Merry Christmas everybody! Even though I was raised Catholic, I don't have a single religious bone in my body either - but that doesn't stop me from appreciating Christmas. I have never heard of this seven fishes thing. Must not be a Catholic thing. Seven Fishes is a Sicilian/Calabrian thing where people eat 7 kinds of fish/seafood on Christmas, my grandma loved it but not me as i cant stand seafood.

One of my eight great-grandparents was from Calabria, but I guess that tradition didn't get passed down.

Simply put - there are no ‘bad areas’. It really depends on what your priorities are. However, Sydney is a definite. On a nice sunny day (except for the absolute heat of summer) Sydney Harbour is simply spectacular. Walking along the foreshore, or on a ferry - it’s amazing. I'd assume I would spend a few days in Sydney if, for no other reason, I'd have to fly into Sydney and after that looooooong of a flight, I'd want to keep my feet on the ground for a few days before jetting somewhere else. We're more into the adventure type of stuff, but generally just walking around new areas and soaking it all in. Beaches and lounging aren't really my favorite vacation activity, I prefer hiking, meeting locals, food tours, history. Looking forward to seeing your beautiful country!! Australia is one big “bush-walk” ! Just west of Sydney is the Blue Mountains full of walking trails from novice to serious hike. For serious hikers, the Great North Walk is full on. Hewn through the sandstone and bush by convicts - it’s a serious undertaking ! www.thegreatnorthwalk.com/map/
