nooo not my dear Ned Stark... (( I remember watching that and being sure up until the very last second that someone was going to save him somehow. Surely they wouldn't kill the protagonist of the show in the first season! yeah same. i kept hoping he would at least go out with honor somehoq. this way it was really the worst - dead And disgraced

Jaime Lannister, the king killer, was my overall favorite because he had the most interesting arc until the final season when they threw it away. Everyone is supposed to like Tyrion, Bronn, Arya, Jon, Varys, Brienne, so they are fun but not my faves for that reason. Favorite minor character was Hot Pie. Favorite villain, easy, Ramsay . Most hated character, High Sparrow (fantastic acting though).

Did they? I haven't discussed with many people, online or off. I tend to avoid forums about shows I like.

They have, to the point where about every analysis video I have seen has failed to realise they were being consciously misled, the same way they were misled to think Ned Stark would survive and somehow get his way. Misdirection is a constant of the storytelling. Viewers and readers are led to want things that never come. It starts with Ned, continues with Stannis, with Robb and more all the way down to the end. Big Shocking Twist® is the author's only real goal so he dangles things in front of the audience only to better take them away. Jaime did what he kept saying he would, which was not what the audience had convinced itself it wanted.

I think toward the end both characters kind of fell apart and were either underutilized or misused. Bronn was a great minor character. Between him and the Hound i had a blast in those early and middle seasons. Ramsay was a great villain. Not sure if i hated him more than Joffrey tho. They were two different levels of hate. Ramsay being the more charismatic. High Sparrow was equally despised in a very different way.

I binged it first time last winter. If you start, don't let up. The later seasons have fewer episodes & feel a bit less dense, to get to the showrunners' finish line.
I'll say more once spoilers are open season...

The later seasons have fewer episodes & feel a bit less dense, to get to the showrunners' finish line. The 7th and last planned season was split in two, extended by 3 episodes and its second half was shot over two years. That's not "getting to the finish line". Don't believe the drivel every idiot repeats. The writing quality went down but that was intentional adaptation to stupid audiences, not a result of the writers' incompetence.

noo not Rob Stark (((( that was a BRUTAL scene the wedding. And once again a really unexpected death and way in which he died so brutal. with his pregnant wife stabbed in front of his eyes. Horrible. If Arya or Tyrion die I am rage quitting the show. Aargh. Of onto season 4 now... (Daenerys is still annoying, but Jamie did have an interesting plot line this season)

noo not Rob Stark … (Daenerys is still annoying, but Jamie did have an interesting plot line this season) The man who actively started the war is dead at last. Remember how he "called the banners" and sacrificed 2000 of his own men in a decoy then threw the rest into blind war to get his father out of jail because he couldn't be bothered negotiating anything? It took two seasons but it's a moral show after all. Effective tactics from the Lannisters too: "better kill a dozen at dinner than thousands in battle". I disliked Daenerys so much at that point I actually paused. Then I realised she would have to feed all these people to her stupid beasts without them being a problem and wanted to see it happen.

A huge event when it first aired. There are countless videos on YouTube showing people’s reactions when they saw it. Those who had read the books knew it was coming, so they strategically positioned cameras to film themselves watching the episode with their friends, in order to capture the reaction. Some of them are priceless. I don’t recommend searching for them now, though, as you may inadvertently see some spoilers for later seasons.

My own reaction was prete severe too I wish I had thought of filming it when I watched it. I was in that situation too; I had read the books so I knew what was going to happen, but my sister had no idea. She started screaming "The baby! The baby!".
I checked on YouTube and in the recommended videos there are references to later seasons, so to be on the safe side wait until you are finished with the whole thing.
*** Edit ***
Incidentally, in the books there was no baby. Rob's wife wasn't pregnant. In fact I am not even sure she was present at the wedding.

She was not present but I do think it was hinted that she's pregnant. She also wasn't an outsider, she just belonged to a lower house or something. Like a commoner vs a noble.

I dont know the result of the trial yet, but omg, the scene where Oberon comes to tell Tyrion that he will take his place in the trial combat was so moving. Such a perfectly written anecdote illustrating Cerceis long term hatered for her brother and such subperb acting, especially reacting on Tyrions side. If that guy didnt get an Emmy or was not at least nominated for his acting in GoT then thats a daylight robbery.
I cried like a baby I admit. so beautifully delivered. so beautiful written. It humbles me as a writer to see all the intricate details and layers RR Martin was able to create in this world.
Also, my dreams are all GoT themed now. I wake up at night thinking "Lannisters always pay their debts" and I think its fair to say I fell in love with Tyrion a bit. Or maybe a lot. Weird I know, but it happens to me sometimes with TV characters. But his charm is so powerful.
(sry if i misspell the names of the characters i cannot google ANYTHING now).
PS> The failed attempt to save "Reek" was also painful to watch. For multiple reasons.
