Max Julien (January 1, 1933 – January 1, 2022) American actor , screenwriter, producer and artist passed away on his 89th birthday. A statement from his team... “During Julien’s decades-long career, he was known for being bold, honest and straightforward. He would live and speak his own truth both professionally and privately. He was thought of as a rare ‘man among men.'” Julien was a classically trained actor and began his career performing in off-Broadway productions around New York City before moving on to acting on the big screen. His largest and possibly best known role was Goldie in “The Mack,” (1973). Julien plays an ambitious pimp who had just served a five-year sentence in prison. A young Richard Pryor plays Goldie’s sidekick, Slim, in one of his early film roles before the comedian became a major Hollywood star. Julien’s performance in the film is embedded in todays hip hop culture, many rappers have sampled Goldie’s lines or scenes from the movie. The actor also wrote and produced iconic film series Cleopatra Jones in the 1970s. Other films Julien appeared in include The Black Klansman (1966), Psych Out (1966) The Savage Seven (1968), Up Tight! (1968) and Getting Straight (1970) and Thomasine & Bushrod (1974) Julien guest starred on TV shows such as The Mod Squad (1968) The Bold Ones... R.I.P ... Max Julien Goldie
