As has been noted, Irish-British-American actress and singer Angela Lansbury has left us at the age of 96, on October 11th. She played various roles across film, stage, and television. Her career, one of the longest in the entertainment industry, spanned eight decades, much of it in the United States, her work also received much international attention. She was one of the last surviving stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema at the time of her death. She signed by MGM and obtained her first film roles, in Gaslight 1944, National Velvet 1944, and The Picture of Dorian Gray 1945, earning her two Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award. She appeared in eleven further MGM films, mostly in minor roles, and after her contract ended in 1952 she began supplementing her cinematic work with theatrical appearances. Although largely seen as a B-list star during this period, her role in the film The Manchurian Candidate 1962 received widespread acclaim and is often cited as one of her career-best performances, earning her a third Academy Award nomination. Moving into musical theatre, she finally gained stardom for playing the leading role in the Broadway musical Mame 1966, which won her her first Tony Award and established her as a gay icon. In the 1970's, she continued with a variety of theatrical and cinematic appearances throughout that decade. These included leading roles in the stage musicals Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, and The King and I, as well as in the hit Disney film Bedknobs and Broomsticks 1971. Moving into television in 1984, she achieved worldwide fame as fictional writer and sleuth Jessica Fletcher in the American whodunit series Murder, She Wrote, which ran for twelve seasons until 1996, becoming one of the longest-running and most popular detective drama series in television history. Through Corymore Productions, a company that she co-owned with her husband Peter Shaw, she assumed ownership of the series and was its executive producer for the final four seasons. She also moved into voice work, contributing to animated films like Disney's Beauty and the Beast 1991 and Don Bluth's Anastasia 1997. She toured in a variety of international productions and continued to make occasional film appearances such as Nanny McPhee 2005 and Mary Poppins Returns 2018. She is remembered by BBC R.I.P. Scottish actor, comedian and writer Robbie Coltrane has left us at the age of 72, on October 14th. Perhaps best know for a wider audience as Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series 2001–2011, and as Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky in the James Bond films GoldenEye 1995 and The World Is Not Enough 1999. He gained national prominence starring as criminal psychologist Dr. Eddie "Fitz" Fitzgerald in the ITV television series Cracker 1993–2006. He appeared in two films for George Harrison’s Handmade Films: the Neil Jordan neo-noir Mona Lisa 1987 with Bob Hoskins, and Nuns on the Run 1990 with Eric Idle. He also appeared in Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare adaptation Henry V 1989, the comedy Let It Ride 1989, Steven Soderbergh's crime-comedy thriller Ocean's Twelve 2004, Rian Johnson's caper film The Brothers Bloom 2008, Mike Newell's Dickens film adaptation Great Expectations 2012, and Emma Thompson's biographical film Effie Gray 2014. American stuntman and occasional bit-part actor Ted White has left us at the age of 96, on October 14th. Perhaps best known for horror fans when he played Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter 1984. He was also notable for having doubled for John Wayne, Fess Parker, Clark Gable, and Richard Boone among others. His career stretched from The Sand of Iwo Jima 1949 to The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift 2006. R.I.P. Ted White

American actress Ann Flood has left us at the age of 87 or 89, on October 7th. Perhaps best known for her role as journalist and author Nancy Pollock Karr in the soap opera The Edge of Night, a role she began in 1962. She portrayed the show's heroine for 22 years, witnessing the show's transition from live to taped broadcasts and its move from CBS to ABC. Her only movie role was in Mystic Pizza 1988. R.I.P. German actor Ralf Wolter has left us at the age of 95, on October 14th. He began his long career on the Berlin stage and in cabaret during the late 1940's. He made his first film appearance in Die Frauen des Herrn S 1951. and quickly achieved prominence as an actor for comedic supporting roles. In 1961, he appeared as the baldheaded Soviet agent Borodenko in Billy Wilder's comedy One, Two, Three with James Cagney and Horst Buchholz. Another Hollywood film with him in a supporting role was Cabaret 1972, where he played, alongside Liza Minnelli, the role of the neighbour Herr Ludwig, a publisher of pornographic books who later turns out to be a Nazi. In Germany, he achieved his greatest fame as the eccentric but friendly trapper Sam Hawkens in a number of highly successful Karl May film adaptations during the 1960's. Ron Masak, the last surviving regular cast member of the TV classic MURDER, SHE WROTE, has died at age 86, less than two weeks after the passing of its star, Angela Lansbury. He played the sheriff of Cabot Cove after Tom Bosley left the series.

As has been noted, American actor Ron Masak has left us at the age of 86, on October 20th. He began as a stage performer, and much of his work was in theater until he transitioned to film and television, where he became a familiar character or supporting actor. He was perhaps best known for a recurring role on Murder, She Wrote as the Cadillac convertible-driving Sheriff, Mort Metzger, although he did make appearances as two other characters in the series, in " Footnote to Murder" as Lt. Lyle Meyer and in " No Accounting for Murder" as Marty Giles. By coincidence, he died just nine days after the passing of the show's main star, Angela Lansbury. In movies he could be seen in Ice Station Zebra 1968, Tora! Tora! Tora! 1970, Harper Valley PTA 1978, The Benchwarmers 2006 among others. He is remembered by Hollywood Reporter R.I.P. Ron Masak

(car accident) His television roles included Lonnie Garr on Hearts Afire (1993–1995), Beverly Leslie on Will & Grace (2001–2006, 2017–2020), for which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2006, several characters in the American Horror Story franchise (2013–2019), Sid on The Cool Kids (2018–2019), and Phil on Call Me Kat (2021–2022). American director, producer, composer, lyricist, and author Jules Bass has left us at the age of 87, on October 25th. He co-founded a film production company, later named Rankin/Bass Productions, with his friend, Arthur Rankin Jr. He is known for his collaborations with Rankin, co-directing and producing a wide array of stop motion animated features and cartoons, notably the hit cartoon ThunderCats 1985–1989. He composed the score for some of these films, collaborating with Maury Laws. He also served as lyricist for several songs. He has also solo directed some Rankin/Bass features, such as Mad Monster Party 1967 and The Daydreamer 1966.He also wrote for some of the company's specials under the pseudonym "Julian P. Gardner", some of which include The First Christmas: The Story of the First Christmas Snow 1975, The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus 1985, and the Emmy Award nominated The Little Drummer Boy, Book II 1976. As has been noted, American singer, songwriter, and pianist Jerry Lee Lewis has left us at the age of 86, on October 28th. A pioneer of rock and roll and rockabilly music, he made his first recordings in 1956 at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee. "Crazy Arms" sold 300,000 copies in the South, but it was his 1957 hit "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" that shot him to fame worldwide. He followed this with the major hits "Great Balls of Fire", "Breathless", and "High School Confidential". His music can be heard in way over hundred soundtracks, including his own biographical movie Great Balls of Fire 1989 He is remembered by Variety R.I.P. Jerry Lee Lewis

Don Marshall (May 2, 1936 – October 30, 2016) was an American actor best known for his role as Dan Erickson in the television show Land of the Giants. A native of San Diego, after an army hitch Marshall studied theatre arts at Los Angeles City College, where he was also a pole vaulter. Marshall's first professional role was in a 1962 Columbia Studios feature The Interns in an uncredited role. In 1964, he was in Shock Treatment, another uncredited role. Also in 1964, Marshall took the role of Chris Logan, playing opposite Nichelle Nichols in CBS Repertoire Workshop episode titled "Great Gettin' Up Mornin'", a made-for-TV-movie about a black family preparing their children for their first day at a racially integrated school in America's South. That same year, Nichols played Marshall's fiancée in a controversial episode of Gene Roddenberry's series The Lieutenant. In 1965, Marshall appeared in a pilot for a series called "Braddock". In 1966, he appeared as recurring character Luke in Daktari. Later in the 1960s he appeared in Roddenberry's next series, Star Trek portraying Lieutenant Boma in the episode "The Galileo Seven" (1967). Other TV series he appeared in were Tarzan (the series with Ron Ely), Dragnet 1967, and Ironside. In 1968, he appeared as Ted Neumann, the recurring love interest of Julia Baker, in four episodes of the television series Julia. As a result of appearing in the episode "Braddock", the actor met Irwin Allen, leading to Marshall gaining his role in Land of the Giants, in which he performed alongside Gary Conway, Don Matheson, Kurt Kasznar, Stefan Arngrim, Deanna Lund, and Heather Young. The series, created by Irwin Allen, featured Marshall as a competent black in a leading role. This was also a first for a black male in the 1960s to be featured so prominently in science fiction. After he retired from acting, Marshall set up his own company called DJM Productions, Inc., which produced television commercials and documentary films. He was popular with Star Trek fans, as he was a Star Trek convention regular.

He married and divorced actress Brenda Scott three times. 2. He was a suspect in the still-unsolved murder of actress Karyn Kupcinet.

He received various accolades including nominations for an Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Tony Award, and Primetime Emmy Award. He started his career as a writer for Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1981. He then directed such films as Emma 1996, Company Man 2000, Nicholas Nickleby 2002, and Infamous 2006. He also co-wrote with Woody Allen Bullets Over Broadway 1994 for which he received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay as well as BAFTA and Writers Guild of America Award nominations. Norwegian stage, film, and television actor Toralv Maurstad has left us at the age of 95, on November 4th. Perhaps best known internationally for playing composer Edvard Grieg in the movie version of Song of Norway 1970. A testament to his position in Norwegian theatre came when in the 1970's he co-starred with Liv Ullmann in a critically acclaimed Broadway-staging of Ibsen's A Doll's House in New York City. English actor, voice artist and author Leslie Phillips has left us at the age of 98, on November 7th. He achieved prominence in the 1950's, playing smooth, upper-class comic roles utilising his "Ding Dong" and "He-llo" catchphrases. He appeared in the Carry On and Doctor in the House film series as well as the long-running BBC radio comedy series "The Navy Lark". In his later career, he took on dramatic parts including a BAFTA-nominated role alongside Peter O'Toole in Venus 2006. He provided the voice of the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter films. He acted or voice acted in over 170 movie and television productions between 1938 and 2012. He is remembered by BBCR.I.P. Leslie Phillips

He was best known for portraying the role of Arthur Fowler in the BBC One soap opera EastEnders, from 1985 to 1996, and was the first person to be cast for the show. Swedish actor and singer Sven-Bertil Taube has left us at the age of 87, on November 11th. In Sweden he was a popular singer and recording artist, he also acted in some daring movies in the 1960's that lead to a few international roles. He acted in London musicals and plays, I and Albert 1972 for example. Most notable as lead actor in the Alistair MacLean movie Puppet om a Chain 1971 and a minor role in The Eagle Has Landed 1976. Greek-born American actor John Aniston has left us at the age of 89, on November 11. Perhaps most famous for playing Victor Kiriakis on the NBC daytime drama series Days of Our Lives, which he originated in July 1985 and played continually for 37 years until his death in 2022. The role earned him a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2017 and he received a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.
