This reminds me that my grandmother use to freeze some of the grapes from grandpa's vines, so the grandkids could enjoy them in the summer. They were great except for the fact that they were Concord grapes with seeds. We had to learn to spit them out!

I grow some grapes that are tasty BUT seedy and the skins are like leather ... so only the juice actually gets consumed.

I grew up on ten acres of thompson seedless grapes ! we sold them to Gallo winery. Not really relevant to the thread, but another good memory! thanks!

I remember the wine bottles they used to have, they were rounded on the bottom and had the "basket" around the bottom. People used to melt candles on the sides and then use them as candle holders. I was sad when they no longer used those bottles, I guess the winery became too sophisticated for that. I don't like wine but I did love those bottles.

WKM, the E. and J. Gallo (Ernest and Julio) will probably go strong forever. It's not all sold under the name "Gallo." They have several different labels among their company's "umbrella."
For a long time they were know for their "affordable" (cheap) wines. But, I've heard that they've won some wine competitions, in recent years.
The bottles with the rounded bottoms that rested in a basket was sold, by several wineries, as an identifiable Chianti. I haven't seen that bottle format, for a few years. And, yes, I did have a few that I made into candle holders ... very popular in the '70's/'80's. I'm not sure that sophistication was the reason for switching to standard wine bottles. It was probably a more expensive bottle to manufacture.

enigma72TRYing to imagine the scenario where someone would have to opportunity to mock those frozen (semi-frozen) grapes as they serve grapes on salad buffets along with blueberries right there with the other lettuce etc fixings .... as in NOT the fruit salad area.

People have weird judgements about other people's food. I had a guy at college basically scream at me for eating the parsley on my plate. "It's a garnish!!" Then again, some people put pineapple on pizza, lol. I have a ton of frozen grapes but don't think I've ever had shrimp salad. Sounds mayo-ey. I would think the grapes would need a bit of time out or a quick microwave. didnt take long at all for the grapes to feel 'refrigerated' not frozen. You know how central heating makes the house hot and dry. My mom loved parsley. lol If we went out to eat she collected it off of all our plates. I thought it cute. Eat that parsley, nj! It is good for you! How are the salads going?

I stopped eating salads as it is now cold here: lows in the forties/highs in the sixties. I like salads when it is hot. Do you eat different foods at different seasons? I rarely have soup from May to September.

nutsberryfarm 🏜 Hope all's well with you!! I bought tail on, frozen shrimp. it said deveined, but I had to do a lot of work to feel good about eating it. My cousins were in Arcata Ca and would go to the shrimp processing plant and buy it so cheap. bet those days are gone. lol

nutsberryfarm 🏜 You had mentioned lasagna. I looked this week when I went shopping. It was Five Dollarsmore than the last time I bought it! Stouffers meat lasagna. I didn't buy it . Guess I'll get used to the cost increases, but right now I couldn't pull the trigger!
