This movie would never be made today simply because it is so politically incorrect. One of the kids (Tanner) goes on a tirade so refreshingly insulting you have to see to believe. But, as a baseball film, this is maybe the best I have seen in capturing baseball. It's a remarkably well-made film, great cast and it feels so authentic. 10/10

9/10 - A classic. When I was younger, I would've rated this as a 10/10. As an adult, I still give it a 9/10.

I saw the sequel... "The Bad News Bears: In Breaking Training" (1977)... FIRST... several times on Cable TV in the late 1980s/early 1990s, and fell in love with that film...
Then when the DVDs came out, I bought the trilogy and then, I saw the first film.
Sadly, I did not like the first film as much. While it was a good film overall (7/10), there were some things about it that I didn't like.
Perhaps if I had seen the two films in order, and the first one when I was younger, I would have liked it more, and my rating would be higher.
However, The two parts I "like" and remember most are...
1.) Kelly Leak goes to Amanda's dancing studio, and tries to pick up an adult woman, who just stands there and stares at him.
2.) When Vic Morrow's character lashes out at his son, who seemed to intentionally try to hit one of the Bears. (Not so much "like", but it was a powerful scene.)

One of few (live) kids movies that lives up to its reputation.
This is in a nice class of genre & era with Meatballs.

8/10. As a kid I thought of how I wouldn't mind playing with Tatum, and I'm not talking Baseball.

I can't rate it higher than 7, although I can see why people would have very fond memories of this. I consider 'The Bad News Bears Go to Japan' one of the worst kids movies, ever.

9/10. A classic.
And Kelly Leak was safe at the plate on that last play, too bad they didn't have replay like these days. 😎
