But in fact faith is almost like a suit of armor that protects us and hardens us against opposing view points. Once someone says they have 'faith' something is true, they've gone beyond what hard evidence proves and into the realm of "I really think it's true, and despite counter arguments, I will hold to that belief." It makes them much more impervious to people arguing other POVs. A good case in point is the 'the election was stolen' meme so many on the right carry with them under their arm like a Bible. No matter that no law suits were successful and no matter that NO ONE has produced the hard and fast evidence that massive voting fraud occurred, they're certain...certain as rain, that it occurred and that is why Biden is president now and his presidency is illegitimate. Another example is...me. I am convinced and have faith that the natural world can/could (if we understood it well enough) be the explanation for everything that happens. It would be futile for someone to try to convince me that this event or that event (something they'd call a miracle) actually occurred and could not have been due to natural causes. Because after all the debate and reasoning, even if I had no good explanation or even any explanation at all, I'd simply assume it is due to some aspect of the natural world we are not aware of yet or may never be. I am protected from changing my view point on the supernatural.
