These are my 20 favorite supporting male performances of 1997.
A lot of great villains this year. Jon Voight is awesome in Anaconda, so shut up haters.
My Top 3
1. Robin Williams, Good Will Hunting 2. Burt Reynolds, Boogie Nights 2. Greg Kinnear, As Good As It Gets

Ian Holm may be the best performance on your list but I don't see how his can be considered a supporting role...

Ian Holm may be the best performance on your list but I don't see how his can be considered a supporting role... I actually wasn't sure. I remembered Polley being the only lead of the movie but I am probably mistaken.

Ian Holm may be the best performance on your list but I don't see how his can be considered a supporting role... I actually wasn't sure. I remembered Polley being the only lead of the movie but I am probably mistaken. Holm is the protagonist. Polley is more questionable - her role is a lot smaller than his but I'd lean towards leading. Anyway, my supporting actor picks for 1997 would be: 1. Robert Forster, Jackie Brown 2. Greg Kinnear, As Good As It Gets 3. Kevin Spacey, L.A. Confidential 4. Tobey Maguire, The Ice Storm 5. Gary Lewis, Orphans
