After the war in Europe was won in May 1945, the US made General George S. Patton military governor of Bavaria. He was such a great fighter, why didn't they transfer him to the Pacific theater to help in the fight against the Japanese?

Patton had used up his nine lives, running his mouth
The Pacific War was a different beast, not so dependent on huge armored columns
Patton commanded Third Army and that army wasn't to be redeployed to the Pacific, only US First Army

Maybe he and Bull Halsey would have both rode Hirohito's white horse in downtown Tokyo.
Off track a bit, I just read that Hirohito kept a diary for his whole life. I bet a lot of historians would give a limb to read it. But no, the Japanese will never allow it. Still a touch of divinity in the Emperors
