I'm looking forward to Feud. I'm a big fan of the people behind it.

Bette Davis had a very noticeable Mid-Atlantic accent, and I doubt that Sarandon will be able to imitate that accent well. But, I do intend to watch this series even though I'm sure it's going to be a campfest. Watching the preview I noticed that Sarandon didn't sound like Davis at all. This kind of lowered my expectations.

Sarandon and Lange are major league actresses who should do Bette and Joan justice. Sarandon, especially, has the look to carry off Bette, even with the different eye colour. I have a healthy scepticism about some of the feud stories, but I hope it will be the campy fun that others have described.

I had read somewhere that the next one was going to be the infamous feud between Johnny Carson and Joan Rivers, which began in 1986 when Rivers started her own night time talk show. I'd rather watch that than Charles and Diana.

Is anyone else looking forward to this series? It's from Ryan Murphy who was excellent last year with People V OJ, though mediocre with AHS and horrible with Scream Queens. However, Feud will reunite Jessica Lange with Murphy since she departed from AHS after season 4. Has a pretty nice cast and is supposed to center around the trouble/fighting Davis and Crawford had while making "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?". Previews have looked pretty good and comical. Premiers March 5th on FX I saw the commercial for this last night it looks really good too . Thanks Courwes for your subject post .

Oh I'll still watch. But when I saw the commercials for it, Sarandon does NOT have any of Bette's mannerisms or traits down. She's got the Baby Jane white face paint, and maybe a little saucy attitude now and then, but she'll have to pull snowflakes out of her butt for me to buy her portrayal of Bette Davis.
Jessica Lange, on the other hand, I have complete faith in. She seems to be carrying this torch with brilliant finesse. I have extremely low expectations now with Sarandon trying to pull of Davis. I still can't believe she's been asked to play Davis before Murphy approached her? How, by whom, when? As someone who's enjoyed Davis' movies quite a bit (and I'll admit, I am not a Crawford fan in the least), I really hope that I am wrong and that Sarandon makes it snow.

Looks even more like Davis than I would've expected. As I said Sarandon has the eyes and chest of Davis, not sure what other actress would come close in looking like her. Lange was herself, maybe a little more subdued than usual.

Super great 1st episode ... I was concerned that they would find a way to screw up this show. But I loved every second of it ... can't wait to see how it all unfolds.
10/10

This looks like it could be really really good or largely forgettable. Ryan Murphy is a hack.

I enjoyed the first episode. Honestly think Sarandon is going to steal the show. She was much more enticing than Lange was. The only think I know about Joan Crawford is Mommie Dearest which was reportedly very hackneyed. So I don't know how accurate the portrayal of the quite suffering actress is accurate. It doesn't feel right though. The portrayal of Davis' suffering as a waning actress on the big screen felt much more palpable.

Hmm. I just watched the first episode. I'm waiting for Lange to spring something later on. She's just in quiet repose. Yes, Sarandon has some physical features that are similar to Bette Davis (bulgey eyes, which they're maximizing effectively with makeup), but she really, really needed some training on accent and voice. If she weren't playing someone so iconic with such a strongly recognizable voice, it would be easier to give this trait a pass. But Davis was legendary for her voice. She's making poor attempts at her hard T's and D's sporadically but,...nope. Not quite there.

I'd like to check it out. Problem is it comes on the same time as Kolchak: The Night Stalker.

I'd like to check it out. Problem is it comes on the same time as Kolchak: The Night Stalker. I certainly know what you mean here fangirl1975 . For me on Sunday nights it's " The Walking Dead " at 9PM followed by " Talking Dead " at 10PM . I tried to look for this new show On Demand today but unfortunately it's not there at the moment . ( I will be checking On Demand again in a few days to see if it shows up at all ) . Thanks fangirl1975 for your reply .
