She was best known for appearing opposite Rod Taylor in The Time Machine (1960). But she also starred in Where the Boys Are, Light in the Piazza, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and Dark of the Sun.

My introduction to Yvette Mimieux came at the beginning of her career, with The Time Machine and Where the Boys Are. She was beautiful, with a wonderful spirit. I loved her in those films and in others, especially Joy in the Morning, Light in the Piazza and Toys in the Attic.
May she rest in peace.

I had SUCH A CRUSH on her as Weena in The Time Machine. As an early adolescent she is the first I wanted to love, marry, and do all that other stuff with.

RIP  Of her later work this was a - well received B exploitation shocker with very young Tommy Lee Jones as her leading man. .  This almost worked but not quite - and she had the task of sharing scenes with heavyweights Geraldine Page and Wendy Hiller, plus a surprisingly effective Gene Tierney.  was a popular romantic drama - a bit icky but high travelogue value from memory. She is Olivia's daughter on European jaunt romanced by a wonderfully orange George Hamilton, the language barrier obscuring the fact she has a mental age of 10!!!!! should Livvy telll all or not!!!  ?   |

She was wonderful in Toys in the attic ,playing another not too bright neurotic daughter of an overpowering mom, played by Gene TIERNY. TIERNY had an interesting take on Lillian Hellman’s tough ,rich lovely woman , another version of Regina GIDDENS. Bette Davis and Tallulah Bankhead play her as an out and out witch. Gene TIERNY plays her as charming and unconventional , doing her best to care for those in her charge , but ultimately not terribly interested in them. Mimieux as her weak clinging daughter whom she doesn’t much care for makes more of this powerless character than you would think. Her scenes with her sister in law played by Geraldine page are fine duets. It’s much harder to play a weak character . This girl, heiress of alexandra GIDDENS, Birdy Hubbard, Marthe De Brancovis , moves the plot by her weakness and failure. Mimieux handles her beautifully surrounded by towering actresses and characters.
