I ignore. But... I have been wondering recently, is it the right approach?
My concern is that if somebody lies about you online and you ignore it, those that read it and dont know you MAY think the lie is true (because you have not disputed it).
But if you dispute it it often just inflammes the situation and throws more attention toward the troll.
So.... I honeslty dont know what the best thing to do is. But ignore is what I do when I realize someone is intenonally trying to be rude or nasty or hurtful.

Scenerio .. someone has repeatedly flung F-bombs in your direction, called you an idiot, been consistently generally nasty to you, made negative comments about your personal beliefs which you have never stated ... BUT suddenly starts not only "liking" your posts but openly agreeing with you on subjects formerly antagonistic.
Possible reactions: The sudden "suck up" is called-out (in context) (by the former target) about the personality change. The sudden "suck up" is called-out (in context) (by un-involved third parties) about the personality change. Target does not react to the change and risks being mocked by peers for not taking the opportunity to get some sort of revenge.
Wondering: Is there a community approved protocol for this purely hypothetical situation ?
