Which was the better movie?
I chose to compare these two movies because they actually had a lot of similarities:
They had a similar number of superhero members to their teams Both were fighting against an ancient non-human intellect intent on destroying Earth for the greater good Both had superheroes with mind-control and superspeed powers Both had scenes of the team splitting in two and arguing about a moral dilemma Both had a member of the team turn on the others briefly Both showcased a death of a team member

Age of Ultron, it has grown on me over the years. Its a step down from The Avengers, but looking back there is a lot more positives. Classic Thor, Caps new suit debut, menacing villain, a competent Hulk and Tony Stark in prime form.

Two very different films, tough to compare them. I'm biased toward AoU because I'm a huge Avengers fan. Yes Ultron should've been more menacing, and yes (hell yes) there could've been a few less quips, but overall I find AoU highly enjoyable, and it features one of the best action sequences in the entire MCU. (The team coming together to protect the MacGuffin from the Ultron bots.)

Age of Ultron. Eternals wasn't bad though.

Age of Ultron... my #33 all-time. What, you didn't see that coming?

AoU, simply because it has so many much more interesting characters.
But I’ll say this: Flawed as these two movies are, I admire that they actually feel like the vision of the filmmaker who made them. AoU, for better or worse is very Whedon-esque while Eternals is very Zhao-esque. They stand in contrast to movies like Shang Chi, Captain Marvel and Ant Man and the Wasp, which all look and feel the same.
