Have just watched WILD ORCHIDS and THE SINGLE STANDARD as part of our Nils Asther festival, and was blown away by Garbo.
I appear to have seen most of her talkies (and in truth the only one that really wowed me was NINOTCHKA)but none of the silents - so where next of those silents that survive?
A WOMAN OF AFFAIRS looks interesting
I like Ricardo Cortez so THE TORRENT appeals - Those who have seen it - Yay or Nay?
And I think we get Dietrich as a bonus in this one
Any other good ones not mentoned you'd "recommend"?
Thanks in advance

The Saga of Gosta Berling - Swedish silent, Garbo's first starring role The Temptress - another femme fatale, with early Lionel Barrymore Flesh and the Devil - probably her best. First movie with John Gilbert Love - Garbo and Gilbert's take on Tolstoy's Anna Karenina

Flesh and the Devil is the real gem. Kind of a melodramatic, typical silent love story. But the chemistry between Garbo and Gilbert was incredible. Gilbert said he fell in love with Garbo from the second he laid eyes on her.
