Hey there everyone, just a British Muslim here, casually flicking through this thr.... Holy fuck, I'm out of here. Gotta be honest, the things being flung around about Muslims generally on the internet does scare me and quite frankly makes me upset. Its easy to blame my whole faith for the actions of a minority of twats but how do you think we (the actual peaceful Muslims) feel? Do you know what it feels like to wake up to a terrorist attack and just hope the perpetrator is not someone who identifies with your faith cos it's just more shit towards your religion? I hate these coward terrorists who murder innocents, proper broke my heart to see someone's parent, partner or child killed. maybe it's my hubris but these Islamic terrorists not real Muslims, they're not even humans in my eyes, as is any souless killer. Sure, Radical Islam finds its roots in Islam but the creators and followers of such ideologies are quite simply evil sociopaths, attracted to these bloodlusting ideas. It sure hurts when a religion of 1.6 billion people is referred to as almost a foreign entity that doesn't belong in Britain. The most rational of people will know religions cover many ethnicities, tribes and creeds. It's not just this one entity with one identity. I'm as British as it gets and so are my parents, that's something that can't be taken away from us. You're probably a nice person, and I wouldn't want you to suffer any kind of recrimination due to this. But the perpetrator of the attack is as real a Muslim as you are. You don't get to make up rules that "only good Muslims are real Muslims". "The most rational of people" will know that religion is irrational and when the edifice of your entire belief system is built on sand, you are more likely to act out in dysfunctional ways, including acts of violence. |

The amazing atheist put up a video yesterday talking about whether or not it's too soon to make jokes about a tragedy. He opened the video up with a joke about the concert. I wasn't in the mood for it but I'm flimsy on that topic. Because I do enjoy humor even humor about tragedies but I do think it was too soon as at that time we didn't even know who the bomber was or a confirmed kill count. But there's not really a hard number to that. It's just a risk you take telling a joke publicly that could be considered offensive. Everyone has a different tolerance level for that sort of thing.
Anywho...I'm almost done pooping so...back to work.

Anywho...I'm almost done pooping so...back to work. My personal opinion is that people should be careful about making jokes on sensitive issues. That said, I do realise that some people don't necessarily have the same world view as I have so I don't call out people who make jokes (unless they do it out of malice). But I never participate in liking or sharing jokes that are made on sensitive issues. |

If your answer is 'no', then it's too soon. I wonder whether the amazing atheist put up a video to ask the same question after 9/11? Or after Oklahoma? I'm going to hazard a guess that he didn't. |
