you were told you were too old for something?
And how did you deal with it?

Probably when i was in my mid 20s and was told i am to old to watch cartoons.
I just told the person who said it to me to "shut the fuck up and mind your own business", and than i kept watching the cartoon
Only i said it in Norwegian and not in English.
I mean it probably happened before that to, but that is the one i remember.

I had an uncle who used to swear in Tlingit and no one knew for sure what he was swearing. That Feo swear would look like this ఫక్ అప్ మూసుకుని మరియు మీ స్వంత వ్యాపారాన్ని చూసుకోండి phak ap mūsukuni mariyu mī svanta vyāpārānni cūsukōṇḍit

A friend told me I was too old to read the Phantom comic books when I was 13. I said to him, "haista vittu". I'm 42 and I still read those comic books.

Nobody has any business telling other people what they are too old to watch, though if an adult is still watching something like Barney then I would be a little weirded out. I would definitely have questions. I have to admit i would also find that a bit strange. But the good thing about being adult, is that you can watch what you want (as long as its legal) and not care what other people think about it.

I am 38 years old and re-watched 3 seasons of the '80s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon just last year. I had a great time. Anybody who doesn't like that needs to take time for some introspection.

I have the entire box-set, only got through the first disc so far though.
But seriously, Ninja Turtles, Sesame Street, Power Rangers, there is a reason the ORIGINALS keep getting put on T-shirts, baseball caps, etc., for ADULTS. The originals are the BEST. 30-40-50 years later they STILL kick ass.

Sesame Street and Power Rangers I did grow out of. I agree that the '80s animated TMNT series is the best of the Ninja Turtles stuff (including the 1990 movie), but I probably would think the later cartoon versions were better if I grew up with those. I have seen people say they think the '80s version is too silly, but that is what is fun about it. Just a couple months ago I was re-watching episodes of Darkwing Duck. Not as good as TMNT, but still fun.

I think the first time I felt old was around 12yrs old or something.
Christmas Eve church service, after years of having to go up the aisle to the front with all the other kids to participate in stuff, that year was when I noticed a whole lot of younger kids than I running up & being nudged along... & that I didn't have to, wasn't expected to go. I kinda realized wow, I'm not a child anymore lols.

Anybody who doesn't like that needs to take time for some introspection. I am not that far off (with age) and I still love and read/watch my old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics, tv-shows and movies, still has a lot love for them, and specially as you get older, there is so much, that I guess just went way above my heads, when I was a kid. Lots of adult themed jokes, in the original tv-show, which I have burst out in laughter (the original show, not the dubbed Norwegian one) of having hear some of the stuff that goes on, and how the hell I could miss out on it. I guess during my teenagers years, I lost a bit of interest, not unsual, but during my early 20s, I kind of fell in love with the whole 80s and early 90s TMNT franchise, once again, and still hope that we one day, might get a good/great movie.

"hold kjeft og bry deg om dine egne saker" That looks better than the English version You know, that is almost very much like the old slogan, at least for some very popular 80s and early 90s soft drinks, that were named "Kjeft", or in english "Shut Up", but where not just popular among the kids, but also towards the much older buyers. Sadly, they would later on rename it, or put a different kind of brand that is now being sold, but it used to be appearing inside so many classic comics during the early 90s, and seems to still have lots of love from people growing up, back then.

I remember those, i used to drink them. I wonder when they stopped making them. I assume they stopped making them because i don`t think i have seen them in 20-25 years.

I am a big fan of animated TV shows and I always have been. I didn't start watching Spongebob until I was 17 (one year after the first season was released) and was a fan immediately. Then I binge watched the first 5 seasons again 8 years ago. Some of the old cartoons don't hold up for me as an adult (stuff like Rugrats I can't really get into anymore), but shows like TMNT and even Darkwing Duck I still enjoy watching and think are fun shows. Animated shows are feel good shows for me. They help my depression and cheer me up.
