That's obviously not Richard Kiel and Roger Moore who jumped out of the plane in the pre-credits scene.
Bond's total chill attitude after shooting one of Drax's guys out of a tree.
Despite its reputation, I've always had fun watching it.
Know what the previous movie was missing? A love interest for Jaws.
Lois Chiles is one of the blandest Bond girls.
Yeah, Bond is responsible for that girl getting eaten by Drax's dogs. For one of the silliest entries, it's a pretty dark moment. I like an earlier scene showing how well trained they are, only eating when he snaps his fingers.
More awesome sets from Ken Adam

Iirc, the part when some girl gets eaten by sharks was pretty gruesome. Even though they don't show it. At least I think that was in this one.
Honestly, this film is the last film in the series that doesn't suck completely, Except for the following one. I don't like james bond films set in the 80's and afterwards for some reason. Probably not a good reason, just cuz.

This oddly makes me want to try a re-watch. 2022 is f'd up.
I read the book last year btw, a pretty solid read - not anywhere close the idiocy of the movie as is known.

Actually, what I meant to say was that: This film on it's own isn't very good probably. But I'm saying , considering how the series went so downhill after this one. It is good by comparision.

9/10 As crazy and silly as a Bond film can get but its very fun and entertaining.

It's my least favorite Bond film. On the DVD (I own the entire James Bond Ultimate Collection) there is a hilarious blooper where a stage hand poses as a window washer and cleans the windows of the space station from the outside. I wish the movie was as entertaining as that blooper.

I like this one a lot more than I’m “supposed to.”
Almost everything pre-space (except some of the silliness with the animal reaction shots) works for me. So many good set pieces: the opening, the first girl’s murder, the switcheroo in Venice, Carnival in Rio. Hugo Drax has some of the best Bond villain lines (“I shall have the pleasure of putting you out of my misery”). And even the space stuff, while ridiculous, mostly entertains me.
I even prefer this one to The Spy Who Loved Me, which has a lot I like (the Egypt portions) but also an underwhelming villain and a dull climax (Moonraker’s space-laser climax may be stupid, but it’s not dull).

This is a revisitor for me, fun, colourful, with glorious ridiculousness.
My favourite Bond theme, Lois Chile's one of my Fave ladies in the franchise, and another 007 flick with some nice dollops of humour.
Roger Moore's expression when escaping the simulator....and being offered help from Holly......is priceless.
Love it.

It's a frickin' Dean Martin-as-Matt-Helm movie, only with a much bigger budget (and minus Dino crooning a song or two).
Not what I want from a Bond pic.

Fleming reused some of it for Goldfinger, such as the cheating at cards in the beginning. Also Hugo Drax's back story inspired Gustav Graves's in Die Another Day.

Space missions, outrageous villains, tropical locations, floating space cities, Bond lairs, flying viruses, Bond fighting reptiles underwater, Bond girls and laser fights aren't what you want from a Bond pic? Then what the fuck do you want?

Needs more moon raking.
Seriously though, I can't believe Moonraker exists-- or should I say, I can't believe the franchise survived this movie. I love it for what it is, an out and out spoof of itself. But it's surprising they were able to make more Bond films after this sendup. The triple-taking pigeon is off the charts!

It was the highest grossing in the series until Goldeneye.

One of the reasons why the film was so financially successful is because it cashed in on the sci-fi craze thanks to the success of sci-fi films like Star Wars and Close Encounters.

At least it's not a total bore like Star Trek: The Motion Picture which was released later in the year. The less said about The Black Hole the better.

Then what the fuck do you want? Ian Fleming. Got a spade and some Febreze? Blofeld jealous of Bond for stealing his daddy was hardly intelligent either so don't pretend you would know an intelligent Bond film if you tried.
