The whole event itself has gotten mixed reviews over the years, but most people remember the championship match between The Undertaker and Psycho Sid and the classic submission match between Steve Austin and Bret Hart.

Arguably Bret & Austin's finest hour both. There's endless to discuss that match.
I watched Austin's youtube channel 1-1 with Bret, & they were doing spot commentary on much (all?) of the match, laughing it up & pointing out things we'd never quite caught before.
One of the many reasons I've Bret Hart my fav wrestler ever, is because he no-sold wrestler's characterization personas if you will. When the glass breaks on RAW, everyone loses their shite & acts scared in the ring. Bret would just glimpse to the tron & smirk. Bret would do all his selling in the ring during the match. I think Austin probably thought that refreshing also, because every other f'er acted terrified, it could get silly. Even The Rock would stop a bit in his tracks at Austin's music... Bret just seemed to relish another fight. (Side note on Bret - I truly think one of Bret's most potent attributes was that he could realistically in actual life beat up anyone on any WWF roster he was ever involved with. That believability, that his standing up to everyone was never a sham or a silly push, was a strong foundation pun to his Hitman's passion)
Anyways, WM13 that match is arguably the finest of the entire Attitude Era. Both guys got over, both guys put one another over, the fans got what they wanted, & both guys legacies grew even stronger.

That really fit in well with him believing that he was the one who was right. That he was the hero. The fans and Austin were the villains. That's great psychology that few know how to implement properly.
