Blow this. I'm sick of seeing one person after another getting the career shaft over some alleged 'misconduct' that seldom develops into anything more than a trial-by-press scenario. If he did something criminal take it into court and have a public trial. As for 'not working', most actors are driven people who live on the notion of remaining working...to not work is to in effect die. This Me Too crap really has gone too far; absolutely throw the book at criminal creeps like a Weinstein, but stop going after any and everyone who ever did anything that could be brought under the ever-expanding umbrella concept of 'sexual misconduct'.

And if so, shouldn't this be brought to the proper legal attention, where it can be verified and if need be tried, rather than subjecting Langella to trial--and unemployment--by hearsay?

I don't 'love to claim' anything of the sort. I am somewhat enamored of the (apparently completely outmoded) notion of the accused getting a fair hearing before a jury of their peers before having their ability to earn their livelihood torpedoed out from under them...something that entirely too many of the supporters of Me Too don't seem overly concerned about.

Ryan Seacrest? Anziz Ansari? i'd say justice does get done.

Administration of justice is properly the realm of the courts, not a press that blows whichever way the wind is going as regards an individual's guilt or innocence.

I would like to know more details. What do you do if someone says something that makes you uncomfortable? You tell them that you would appreciate it if they wouldn't say things like that to you. Did this woman do that? Because that is what adults should be able to do. And then move on.

I always wonder how many people who whine about "Me Too going to far!!!" ever spared a thought when we found out "time and again" that woman who were sexually assaulted/harassed had no recourse through the years. Like, that documentary about how women in the army who reported rapes were silenced and kicked out of the army while the men who raped them went unpunished, and nobody said anything. Then a guy gets fired for getting handy on set, and everyone's like, "Whats' happening to out society?!?!?!?!"
If anyone is interested, the doc is called The Invisible War. It as released in 2012.

These old-timers have to realize that things have changed. They can't go all Dustin Hoffman, walking into a business meeting with a female film executive and asking her questions about how she likes to get screwed.

Langella has a lengthy history of being a ladies' man, but this is the first time that I can think of where that has been deemed as problematic and resulted in a situation where he is let go from a production. I take no side in this, the accusation is vague and for all we know the actress in subject might be using this to hop aboard the fame train.

People complain about #MeToo because there are instances where the accuser has been found to be lying and using the movement and the accusation they're making for their 15 minutes of fame and the accused gets their whole life ruined in the process. In this case with Langella the accusation made is very vague and although he has been known to be a womanizer he has no recorded history of being an harasser on and off-set with co-workers. The story is still fairly new, so who knows which direction this will take.

And what of the men who were imprisoned for years for rape who are now free due to DNA evidence proving they couldn't have done it? I'm no MRA supporter for sure, and no doubt a goodly number of those convictions were due to lazy/corrupt/incompetent cops looking for a fast arrest...but some of them were also the result of the simple fact that the woman lied. Are we to just ignore that? And you're simply reinforcing my original contention that these sorts of occurrences need to be properly and publicly tried in the correct venue, as apart from trial-by-opinion and press. The justice system is far from perfect, I'd be the first to say; but I'll sure as hell rely on it a lot quicker than I will the sort of 'trial' the MeToo crowd seems all to happy to rely on.
