Though still facing involuntary manslaughter charges, Alec Baldwin will no longer have to fear a five-year prison sentence for the fatal shooting of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

www.shouselaw.com/ca/defense/process/sentencing/gun-enhancement/"firearms enhancement" seems to be an odd charge in this case... Since it usually seems to refer to an "Enhancement" of a crime... Such as a murderer deciding to pull out a gun and use it to murder someone, instead of just murdering the person with their bare hands... The whole case is completely about the Gun (accidentally going off and firing an unknown live round of ammunition)... Since, There was no intention to commit murder, If Baldwin didn't have the Gun, she wouldn't be dead. It would be like getting in to a car accident... and being charged with Reckless Driving... and then being charged with "Automobile" Enhancement... It's like: you're being charged twice for the same thing.

"Honoring Halyna means the world to me and our entire production team," director Joel Souza says ahead of Rust resuming production this spring.

Alec Baldwin and Rust producers are being taken to court by crew members of the indie Western over the fatal 2021 on-set shooting of cinematographer Haylna Hutchins. Not only are Ross Addiego, Doran Curtin, and Reese Price suing the actor and the production for negligence, but the trio, all of whom were right there when the 1880s prop gun went off and killed Hutchins, are claiming that Baldwin pulled the trigger – something the involuntary manslaughter charges facing Emmy winner has long denied. deadline.com/2023/02/alec-baldwin-rust-killing-shooting-lawsuit-crew-members-new-mexico-1235273498/

This latest lawsuit by the three crew members feels more like people trying to profit from a lawsuit than for seeking justice. "Blast injuries"? I've fired real guns before and standing next to and/or near a gun won't cause disorientation, knock you on your ass, get you hit with any kind of bullet shrapnel, etc. It's a gun and not a bomb. Guns are loud and can hurt your hearing, but won't cause injuries to someone near it to the degree these crew members are making out to be.

Responding to a petition from lawyers for Baldwin, Rust producers and other defendants as well as plaintiff Maime Mitchell in the latter’s negligence lawsuit, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has paused the civil case and lifted any self-incrimination risk for the actor until next year, aka after the expected criminal trial in the Land of Enchantment in over.

"... Less than two weeks before a New Mexico court hearing on a motion by the actor’s legal team to disqualify the Special Prosecutor, the Special Prosector herself has suddenly quit the high profile case"

“The government’s conduct represented a disregard of its ethical duties, and it has threatened Mr. Baldwin’s right to a fair trial,” claims a March 21 filing by Baldwin’s NYC and Dallas-based Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan defense (read it here).
