ody helpful advice at that. That will help players figure out things themselves possibly. Depending on the person though.
If you, in an old video game recieve a in game hint. You can draw out the hint on a piece of paper that will help you visualize what you have to do. Because it will be visual then. And when you do whatever the hint says in the game it will also be visual cuz you'll be looking at it.
For example, a hint says, 'walk into darkness.' You just draw a pic, of you walking into darkness. Not you the character in the game.
Because the part in the game that has the 'darkness' in it... you might not be able to tell where it is, because things aren't always represented clearly in old games.
but drawing it will help.
Number two, if you get to a screen in a game. That makes you think there is more to it than is readilly apparant... (if it seems like a dead end or what not)
You can draw that screen on paper. Making it detailed. That will give you time, to figure out what you have to do there. It will give you a way of looking at it, other than the way you thought about it before, possibly. Or notice possible things.
For example, the early phantasy star games. Which people say, good luck getting through this game without a guide. My advice could be used for that game.

I forgot to mention, important aspect of my advice. Which is it is easy to forgot to do those two things when playing a game.
My advice is, to write down the two things I talked about. And keep that piece of paper with you when playing anything. And paper that's blank, for drawing also. Oh, and I strongly recommend only drawing in colored pencil. Just drawing with a regular pencil won't (always) be helpful. Just trust me.
Because you want to match the color to things that are in the game.
There are many times when I couldn't figure something out... but if I think about it later, I think if only I would have drawn it I would have been able to figure it out.
