SPOILERS
I just saw the movie, and thought it was a solid movie, a lot better than Pirates 4. But did anyone catch that plot hole with the compass ?
In the second movie we found out that Jack bought the compass from Calypso. Here, in this movie, they showed an origin story with young Jack, and how he got that compass from the captain of the ship he was working on. I didn't like that at all, messing with the timeline, it reminded me on the X Men movies, and how they don't give a fuck about the time line.

That's pretty glaring. Wow. Did they watch the other movies?

Jeff Nathanson (He wrote "PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES") is going to have to explain that at some point.

i thought it was a very silly film. the beginning in particualr made on sense - what happened to the money in the safe? it is never explained. and why did they need to do all that business with the horses etc to get it, if he could get into the safe anyway? wouldn't it have been easier to just take the money out? and what's all the big deal about finding the way by the stars? sailors have been doing that for thousands of years. Are we really supposed to believe they need some chit of a girl to tell them how to do it?

Actually the movie does explain what happened to the money as a sight gag. It was open during the chase scene so all the money, jewels, and gold fell out onto the street.
