I agree. That was exactly what I meant. I just think that the filmmakers are clearly hiding behind the old double standard that demeaning sexual humor can be played for easy laughs if it’s done to a male. There are far worse examples of that than this though. Personally, I actually like the whole shirtless-stereotype that MCU has for their male characters, I just wish there wasn't a double standard. MCU has gone pretty overboard with de-sexualizing their female characters. I wish the MCU would allow their women to show a bit more skin here and there. Not because I want to jack off to them or something (though I obviously still appreciate eye candy) but because it's being fairly respectful to the source material. Comicbook art is full characters showing off their physiques, both men and women. And covering up their female characters in the movies like the MCU does, it's a big part of why their female characters feel so much blander than their male characters. Yeah, but comic book art also has uniforms that fit like an actual skin (to the point you can see way more than you should be able to see through something that is knife/bullet resistant), so I've never minded them letting their ladies be more 'covered up'. Granted, I'm one of those people rolling their eyes at Nat having the zipper of her suit halfway down all the time in promo art/some scenes. I get that she uses her sex appeal as a tool (I don't blame her, it works very well for her!) but as someone who has done martial arts and worked in a job where I had uniforms that were meant for my own protection, having inches of skin sticking out over the suit, seemed like it was inviting someone to aim for center mass.
But really, it's the "someone gets stripped and it's funny" gag that just makes me want to throw popcorn (or a chair) at the screen. It isn't funny. It's degrading, no matter the sex/gender of the character it happens to.

It's degrading, no matter the sex/gender of the character it happens to. There's a balance that needs to be struck here somewhere. Comicbook costumes are fantastical and iconic but they're clearly not practical. Actual realistic combat gear is practical and useful but they're drab and generic as sh!t. What you want when translating comicbook characters to their onscreen variations is to strike a balance between the two. You want to retain enough of their comicbook costumes to make them look exciting and iconic but you want to make it just practical enough that it seems realistic. The MCU has mostly been able to find this balance with their male costumes (with a few exceptions) but when it comes to their female counterparts, they seem to have tried too hard to desexualize their look that they ended up giving the women visually unappealing and and flat-out boring costumes. This is at least one area where the DCEU has an advantage over the MCU, as DC doesn't seem to be afraid to make their characters - both men and women - dress up in visually attractive costumes. Still, there seems to be a bit of hope as Wanda finally got a decent costume (it only took so many years) and Jane Thorster looks pretty good as well but the rest of the female MCU characters really need a costume upgrade. P.S. - I started martial arts training at 8 and have fought a few times in the ring. There's a reason why most combative matches are fought with minimal clothing, you can actually move a lot better with skimpy skintight clothing. And it isn't even restricted to just fighting, you see it among gymnasts, figure skaters, swimmers, runners, etc.

Well it certainly makes more sense than Valkyrie and Jane Foster, though I guess that one isn't bad as well. But to be honest, I would have preferred her to hook up with Darcy. From a personality perspective, that just looks like a more interesting pairing than Valkyrie and Sif. I just wish they'd stop calling Valkyrie "king" and simply embrace the title of "queen" instead.

Valkyrie and Sif never even occurred to me. Pretty much everyone for the past three years seemed convinced that it would be her and Jane.

I'm a bit surprised at how deep Portman's voice sounds here. Could have sworn her voice was higher pitched than that. Maybe it's age, maybe she's just modulating, maybe it's the steroids.

According to film listings on AMC, the runtime for this new Thor adventure would be 119 minutes, or 1 hour and 59 minutes.

That makes me a bit worried... considering this movie has quite the number of characters to juggle around.
