Montreal Expos would be a cool name for the Rays. Not nearly as cool as the Buffalo Bisons
They'd immediately be small market... + in Toronto's market... & the Yankees & Mets might even block that too.

No offense, but the affiliation with the Jays hasn't been all that for the Bisons. The Jays have a tendency to play their top prospects at New Hampshire in AA for some reason. The affiliations haven't been great for the Bisons since Cleveland. Even though it pains me to say, hooking up with the Yankees would be ideal. Won't happen, the only appeal for the Yanks would be the New York State connection.
Fooey on Montreal. No stadium, a hockey town, a failed history. Even a crummy nickname. An "Expo"? The World's Fair, or Expo, was 55 years ago. What is an Expo now, a former Po?

The Bills are helped by Southern Ontario fan$. I'm not certain MLB would see a large enough swath of Bisons fan$ to support it. I'm not being subjective about that, it's just the way she goes. Montreal would be owned by Bell, Canada's other media giant (Rogers owns the Blue Jays). Canada is a safe choice for business, social, & baseball reasons enough. I'd rank MLB's expansion wish list: 1. Mexico City 1A.Monterrey (if Mexico City was too big, or too far away geographically) 2. Las Vegas 3. Portland 4. Charlotte 5. Montreal I can't think of a place that would get into that list. Indianapolis? San Antonio??

When I was a teen/20-something, I lived 2-10 miles from Harrisburg. The Senators were the AA for the Pirates at first and then the Expos. I always thought we had the advantage over AAA Ottawa. Just looking it up: Vlad played 118 games at Harrisburg, 0 at Ottawa. Cliff Floyd played 101 at Harrisburg, 52 at Ottawa. For whatever reason, it seemed like the Expos wanted their real prospects to play at AA rather than AAA.

Joey Votto tied Johnny Bench for all-time hits as a Red last night. That's some rarified air.

AA seems to offer the better full season experience, whereas AAA skews a bit more for up/down callups yes? Then again, AAA pitching is good for A & AA talent to see.

Votto I see has 150+ game seasons a mere 7 times; Bench 4 times. 8674 PA's for Bench... 8269 so far for Votto. Weird... I always think of Votto having shortened seasons, too many to accumulate stats, albeit with strong metrics.

We should have got an expansion team in the Rockies/Marlins round when the Bisons were drawing 1,000,000+ a year every year and playing in a park that was much nicer than most MLB stadiums. But it was TV uber alles.

Mets did it when their AA team was in Binghamton and their AAA was in Las Vegas. Some have a policy to have the top shelf prospects play AA and the AAA stocked with "filler", players who can come up in case of an injury and the team knows it's getting a player that can handle the majors and no service time issues arise. Like the Expos, Ottawa is closer that Harrisburg. I'm not accusing Toronto of doing anything shady.

I don't know who is the umpire behind the plate in the Cubs-Cardinals game. That was an outrageously terrible 3rd strike call on Edman with bases loaded two out and full count. The ball was way outside for a bases loaded walk. I don't blame Oliver Marmol for being upset and get thrown out of the game.

Nick Pivetta acting like an ace against the A's. He started the season shakily but seems solid now. He's only given up more than one ER in a start since May 7th and that was three runs in a 16-3 piss beating of the other Sox. He's been a nice pickup. Thanks, Philly!

MacKenzie Gore is awesome again. 1 ER in the last 3 starts. He is the real deal. He went from top ten prospect to looking like he'd never see the majors to being a real rookie of the year candidate. Not sure what happened there in the middle.

More so than with other sports, I think it's very easy to become myopic with baseball. I've complained about the Padres hitting and rightfully so - - but they are actually 20th in batting average and 14th in OBP. Milwaukee is worse at both. In today's lineup, the player with the best batting average going into the game was Rowdy Tellez at .249. In 27 innings in this series, they scored 4 runs in the 9th on Friday - - and have scored 1 run in the other 26 innings.

Cardinals with a chance to take the lead in the 9th, base runner has to go back to third because he missed the bag and isn’t able to score. The next batter, Goldschmidt, grounds out and the inning ends.
Might cost the Cards the game lmao
