FIRST... let's remind ourselves what the Official Original Version was...
OK. That should look and sound familiar to most fans of the cartoon...
Now, about the Alternate Version...
I "remember" seeing a version, where the music was changed and featured... a cover or sampling of:
Martha Reeves & the Vandellas - Dancing in the Street (1964)
But I can't verify that it actually existed, because I can't find it on YouTube...
I'm certain that it did exist, because I actually liked the original music, and took particular "note" of that in my mind, when those shows originally aired...
It seems unlikely that some random syndication station would change up the already paid for Ghostbusters music, to pay for the use of a popular song... so if it did exist, it must have been an official one... and therefor everyone who saw the cartoon back then must have seen it too!
I have the Time Life DVD set, and none of the episodes has it... Not surprising, with how many shows on DVD have music replacement, since they didn't want to pay for using those songs again on Home Video... So that's not a trustworthy indicator.
Does anyone remember this alternate version?

I'll always love slimer pestering Peter and wrapping himself around his leg and then tripping over him.
God was that show awesome.

deembastilleThe part where they guys are dancing, is based on the dance the real cast did in the Ray Parker Jr. music video. I wonder if the slimer part in the end credits was inspired by Ray Parker Jr trying to help Bill Murray break dance. Anyway... Yeah. Great Show... Sure. It was aimed at a younger audience, but it had many great stories... I saw it as other adventures that we just never saw on the big screen. "Citizen Ghost" was another good story. It took place right after the first movie. The guys rebuilt the firehouse, got new jumpsuits, and it tells how Slimer came to live with them. Something that should have been explained on screen. Nice filler episode to see in between the two movies. There's one about how Hollywood made a movie (The First Ghostbusters Film) about their lives. Bill Murray didn't sound like Peter. LOL! Peter was voiced by the guy who voiced Garfield. Later Bill Murray would voice Garfield. I think it's funny, the guy who did the voice for Egon has said, they were looking for someone who didn't sound like Harold Ramis... But he did that anyway, and got the part. I like to watch "The Headless Motorcyclist" right after Disney's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (1949) every Halloween. It's amazing how seamless the transition is between the two. Speaking of Halloween... Just stumbled across this:
