Yes. User name tfm. Can't remember his real name. That's too bad. People knew him off the board and were sure he died? There was an article posted in his local newspaper with a picture and details about him which jived with things he posted on the board. Stuff like he played in a band and what his other interests were. He went swimming in a nearby loch which was known to be dangerous and got caught in a whirlpool and drowned. I posted on a few threads he conversed on. And yeah, there was one person who knew him off the boards and he came in and confirmed it was him. He wasn't too interested in talking about it but he confirmed it and disappeared.

I don`t think of her at all. That was the idea of starting the thread and why he got such a kick out of it. He started a conversation about someone nobody ever thought much of or about but people yapped about her in any case.

That's too bad. People knew him off the board and were sure he died? Yes. I just found this. R.I.P. IMDb Message Boards, 2001-2017Upon the closing of the IMDb message boards, we take a look at what we've lost. Can you believe we've been here five years already?! That's longer than I posted on the original IMDb sports board. I think I joined the IMDb boards in 2004, but never bothered with the sports board for like ten years.

I think I joined the IMDb boards in 2004, but never bothered with the sports board for like ten years. In the last year, I figured that the IMDb boards were doomed. I didn't visit a lot of different boards but most were sewers. Especially the Politics Board. It's a cesspool now but this one is downright tame in comparison. A few users had been doxxed, one who was reported to his work and he got fired. There was a user, navykurt, who routinely posted death threats toward Barack Obama. A kook, no doubt. But if he had proven not to be, if he had taken a shot at Obama, I'm sure IMDb would have experienced some repercussions. And there was a user, bencaesar, who routinely doxxed user. he posted personal info on users, including real names, home addresses and phone numbers. He was reported, had his account nuked, and came back a couple days later. he bragged that he lived in Pakistan and IMDb could do nothing permanent. I think it came to a point that IMDb either had to hire full time admins (the reporting system was automated) or dump it. Cost effective to dump it. ESPN had message boards and they were nuked. No great loss, the message boards were just crap. An article on the Red Sox would be littered with Yankee fans bullshit, a Celtics article would get trashed by Laker fans etc. Always wondered how much traffic it cost IMDb to kill the message boards. I still go there but rarely. Just to see who was the cinematographer for a certain film, for example. Might spend 5 minutes there instead of hours.

Yeah I remember the ESPN message boards. I'd get attacked by fans of my own teams, never mind trolls. Once I used 'We' when talking about the team and a guy said, "They probably don't know who you are, donkey!" It's a toss up which is funnier, an adult calling another adult a donkey, or the use of the word 'probably' in his post, as if there was an outside shot I was a personal friend of Kevin Garnett or something.

Remember when Beardy was all excited and couldn't wait to tell us all that he got the passwords to the best porn sites on the net from a friend of his?

Does anyone remember the thread started by that guy who said he was going to write a novel based on some recent events in his life and he went on a long winded, rambling rant with no paragraph space about some drama that happened with a friend’s wedding or something? That got a lot of funny responses and was a classic thread. What about the sofa post? The sofa thread was amazing. In hindsight, we effectively started AITA.

Anyone remember how Sule would also post conspiracy shit? Like about internment camps and stuff.

Anyone remember how Sule would also post conspiracy shit? Like about internment camps and stuff. Vividly. It also had a pretty wide range in terms of seriousness. He'd post about internment camps, a highly-detailed plot of a zionist-hydra like infiltration of all levels of a worldwide government, media and banking organization (like a global Illuminati or something), to go along with ESPN being secretly owned by the NY Giants and basically being their own private media arm. I honestly enjoyed Sule, in spite of his occasional nuttiness. We did become friendly over the years, but I lost track of him when the old board died.

There was a little too much bullshit to DeNiro but I got friendly with most of the regulars. Including the ones that made the trek here. It took me a while to get used to Sule, Strel, Beardy. I even liked Marco. The real Marco, not the phony that was here for a while. Pops is another old regular that I miss.

Oh I thought of another classic thread - the one where a poster asked if you ever cry over sporting events and then went on and on about how emotional he got over senior night for his favorite basketball team and some player named “Tum Tum”, does anyone remember that?

That rings a bell. I can’t remember more of it though. Who was it who started it, was it John the Humble, or Tim Lincecum 55?

He was a regular on the politics board for a while and I think he got banned during the pandemic. I think that’s who it was. It was funny, the guy crying over some dude named “Tum Tum”.
