So I just finished watching this.... and yeah, this movie has issues. It's not quite as bad as the critics make it out to be but I have to admit, I actually liked Thor L&T more than this. Painful as it is to admit it. Personally, I enjoyed Black Adam more than Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for that matter, and genuinely like it more than them. I don't think I have had this much fun at the movies since Top Gun: Maverick back in May.

The movie’s pretty rough and fairly generic for a superhero film in the 2020s. I’m not really surprised, since The Rock doesn’t exactly have the best track record, but yeah, it’s not very good. It’s kind of telling that The Rock spent the past several weeks hyping up Superman more than anything else.

They're discussing this on the politics board. I'm stealing your post since Love & Thunder has come up I'm seeing Black Adam Tuesday Thanks. I'll start posting there as well. I enjoy most movies I see in a theater because I'm pretty good at figuring my taste vs the trailer. Plus I go to like vs tear apart. I paid my money, is it worth the money I spent on it or not? This was OK. Good. Not great. I asked my sister your comment about Love & Thunder & she said both were equal. I said I put L&T higher because it had a firm plot/direction. The film knew where it was going. This one? It felt like wrestlemania. It felt like after each fight ended, it was seeking the next fight. I am an old Remington Steele fan so Pierce Brosnan hold a special spot in my memories, but otherwise? They failed to bring the characters to life, to give us a reason to care if they lived or died. I didn't feel they successfully created any sort of bond.

On a personal level, I found Thor L&T far more offensive than Black Adam. Mostly because I really hated how they treated Thor and pretty much made a mockery of him and his lore. The endless jokes were also grating. Yet on a purely objective level, Thor L&T had way better pacing, better character interactions, better development, a better villain, and even the jokes (lame as they were) were timed better. Black Adam was refreshingly inoffensive, doing nothing except to try and entertain, but it was just a mess. No character development, weird pace and timing, and Dwayne Johnson is just miscast as Black Adam. He certainly looks the part but his acting is completely off. So while there's more stuff for me to b!tch about in Thor L&T, there's also more stuff for me to praise in that movie. BA for me felt like a music video or extended commercial.

I have been unhappy with Thor's treatment since Endgame. I understand they wanted the original team from the 2012 movie, but then they wanted Tony to do the grand sacrifice snap so they had to remove Hulk & Thor from the running. So they totally ruined Thor. He would not have eaten his pain That's a lame cop out. He would have sought our more & more dangerous foes so he could die in battle & go to Valhalla This at least brought us back to a place where he can return to more the Thor of Avengers & his first movie. He always had a sense of humor. Waititi took it too far. However, I will hold on to that theory that Love & Thunder, being told by Korg, means it is embellished & not all truth. Black Adam...one of my complaints about DC is the hero is the character while the secret human identity is the hide. Marvel it is the human identity that is the character with the hero seriously impacting the humans life. Peter Parker is Spiderman While in DC Batman is Bruce Wayne. Make sense?

Marvel it is the human identity that is the character with the hero seriously impacting the humans life. Peter Parker is Spiderman While in DC Batman is Bruce Wayne. Make sense? Yeah I agree with that. I normally say it in a different way but it boils down to the same thing: With Marvel, it's regular people who've been granted godlike powers. With DC, it's godlike beings who're living amongst regular people. With Marvel, the focus is on the person... who just happens to have superpowers. With DC, the focus is on the superhero... who just happens to have an alternate identity. As for Thor, Infinity War was the last time we saw the real Thor in my book. In fact, that version was probably the best movie version we've seen of him. After that he just became a parody. I was hoping Endgame was a one-off, that Thor L&T would bring him back to his former glory. Except all they did was double-down on it.

Thor 4 was funnier and Natalie Portman's first good performance ever but Black Adam had more about it and better fight scenes.

Lol @ unfollowing the WB. Like, it's a shitshow over there, but the movie barely broke even. What did he expect?
