Well I didn't know that, but apparently it is/was depending on where in the world your are.
Anyway it might be the right time to celebrate and reminisce about you favorite Dracula's, vampires and vamps.
Is it Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, Francis Lederer, George Hamilton, Max Schreck or Frank Langella or any others and in what movies?
It seams nowdays like any country has at least done one vampire movie nowdays, even Sweden contributed with Let the Right One In, but there are many other vampires out there in movieland like the Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt romantic version of vampires. Vampires?
Vamps, women with no fangs, that still makes men behaving foolish (since this is a family friendly room I won't explain it closer than that), from the likes of Theda Bara and Pola Negri and forwards. Vamps?
Name your favorites, please
This is not a game, so any movies and actors and actresses and even canines (Dracula's Dog 1978 for example) can be mentioned many times.

I'm partial to Christopher Lee, Bela Lugosi, and Frank Langella as Dracula. I also like Gary Oldman in the role.

The Temptress (1926) Greta Garbo plays the title role Elena a vamp who inadvertently destroys many men who come in contact with her... I recently bought The House of Dracula (1958), not being a fan of horror films I only got a copy because Melissa Stribling has a main role. Still sitting unwatched on the shelf, time to unwrap it and will watch one night this week thanks to your highlighting Dracula Day... update edit... watched last night, built upon some good acting and moments but overall I thought it was pretty lame

A great film and a real oddity from Finland is Valkoinen peura , The White Reindeer (1952) The film is based on pre-Christian Finnish mythology and Sami shamanism, the setting is the snowy landscape of the Finnish Lapland and centres on a young woman, Pirita, (Mirjami Kuosmanen) . Newly wed she seeks the local shaman to get some help with her love-life, but instead gets turned into a shapeshifting, vampiric white reindeer. The village men are drawn to her and pursue her, with inevitable tragic results...
