No it isn't. Despite the very vocal support that LGBTQ is getting on social media, you have to remember that LGBTQ people compromise an extremely tiny percentage of the world's population. I'm not saying it's wrong, simply pointing out that it's not the norm. My mother-in-law used to kiss everyone on the lips. Yeah, closed mouth, but I hated it because in my house we were taught lips are for adults in love. I need to find the passage in Jing King of bandits. Something about a kiss on the lips is romance. A kiss on the cheek is something & a kiss on the forehead is protection. Since reading that my kid & I kiss one another's forehead when we part. It guess it depends on culture (there are some cultures where men kiss each other as a form of greeting), but I remember reading something somewhere along the lines of: A kiss on the hand = formality A kiss on the forehead = blessing A kiss on the cheek = friendship A peck on the lips = familiarity A kiss with the tongue = romance A kiss anywhere else on the body = desire

Should be banned for not having Tim Allen. Why does it need Tim Allen? It technically doesn't, however, Allen was the original voice for Buzz and has been voicing the character for almost 30 years and most people associate the character with him and his voice. I think more people would be on board for the movie if the marketing emphasized that it is a movie set within the Toy Story universe and showed scenes of Allen's Lightyear going to see it with his owner at the theater, but none of that has been present in the marketing outside of maybe a poster or two. That, and say that the movie is fairly recent in that continuity and not the one that originated the toy-line, because then that gives the idea that no matter what Tim Allen has brought to the role over the years in continuity his voice is second best and is an imitation of the original, which in this case is the actor Chris Evans is voicing.

Oh true his voice has aged. I hear that in the new Star Wars show they used technology for Vader’s voice. It sounds exactly like James Earl Jones circa 1980. Crazy stuff they can do. The argument is Tim Allen was the voice of the toy. This is the actual astronaut Buzz Lightyear so it is possible the company that made the toy couldn't get the astronaut to make the tapes so hired an actor. It's not the actual astronaut it's the actor playing the character for a movie set within the Toy Story universe. Even so, that it is what we are to believe originated the toy line which Buzz Lightyear comes from the implications being presented are that no matter what Allen brought to the role his voice for the toy is in continuity a pale imitation of the original actor portrayal, which is Chris Evans's voice performance - I hope this argument sounds clear enough, it's not too easy to describe.

Why does it need Tim Allen? Hasn't Allen had trouble finding work lately, what him being a conservative? They are making a mini-series based on The Santa Clause for Disney+ and he's the narrator of a new History Channel series, but that's pretty much it basically as far as acting goes. There have been talks about a Hoem Improvement revival over the years though.

Just watched it (awesome by the way). The same-sex kiss was literally a blink-and-you-missed-it thing. I actually missed it. My friend later said that it was a quick peck in the cheek during an anniversary party.

they seem to have cleaned up James Earl Jones's voice for "Obi-Wan Kenobi" he doesn't sound like a 91 year old man I actually gave you the wrong info. The reason is that this is a different character, not Tim Allen's Buzz Lightyear. Tim's Buzz was just a toy based on the Buzz Lightyear movies. This is the actual Buzz thar is in those movies. It still doesn't sound very respectful to what had come before though. If Tim Allen's Buzz Lightyear is just a toy based on theatrically released Buzz Lightyear movies then basically it reduces his voice work as second fiddle and an imitation of Chris Evans' actor portraying Lightyear on the screen, who is presented as the real and authentic Buzz Lightyear(in voice).

That's like saying Jews aren't normal because they don't even make up 1% of the Human population. There's more gay people in Oregon than Asians, Blacks and Native Americans combined. Are we supposed to keep pretending that they're weird or are we going to allow them in society? You're confusing your terminology. There's a very big difference from saying something "is the norm" and saying "something is normal". When something "is the norm", it means it's the average or the generally accepted standard. Not the same thing as something being normal. A girl who gets pregnant at 13 is still normal, but it certainly isn't the norm. People who eat dogs are not the norm but they're certainly not abnormal. This is happening in a Disney film, it doesn't get more mainstream than that

That points to it not quite being as universally accepted as what you'd expect from something that's supposedly the norm.

So this films joins these other films being banned in China Frankenstein (1931) Ben-Hur (1959) Back to the Future (1985) Babe: Pig in the City (1998) The Da Vinci Code (2006) The Dark Knight (2008) Joker (2019) Are we going to just allow China to rule the debate in this forum and tell us what's acceptable? The Chinese Government abuses human rights and this censorship is just another example of that.

Legendary failure. And I'm so happy.
If your happiness is dependent on a movie’s success or failure, re-evaluate your life.

Cllearly you are a massive loser and you need to re-evaluate your life, because it's obvious you are a desperate snowflake.
Your beloved movie got trashed. It's life.

It’s not my beloved movie; and I hadn’t planned on seeing it, tbh. The first toy story movie wasn’t interesting to me, so I doubt this will be either. But anyone that is so invested in Whether or not this movie is a success has some issues.

Just realized one thing: the same-sex kiss is a major anachronism! The movie is supposed to have been made in 1995. There is no way in hell that a movie for kids made in 1995 would feature a same-sex couple.

The Chinese Government abuses human rights and this censorship is just another example of that. This wasn't just banned in China, it was banned in 14 different countries. Again, I'm not saying being LGBTQ is wrong (heck, my wife is fully bi) but let's at least be honest enough to admit that it isn't the norm and is nowhere near as mainstream as social media might make it seem. If it was the norm, then it wouldn't have been banned in 14 countries and caused this much controversy.
