I remember siskel and ebert had a review of it... that proved that they were hack frauds. Because they reviewed the movie that makes them hacks? Ebert gave it 3.5 out of 4 in his print review.

Aliens is the big dumb brother of Alien. I have no desire to ever watch it again. Why would I? Alien is art. Aliens is a child's finger paining.

Siskel made a big deal about Newt being involved and being regularly put in dangerous situations. It seems Siskel doesn't like movies that have such child endangerment.

Ebert got up in arms about Isabella Rosselini, a 34 year old adult from Europe with strong connections in the industry, being asked and agreeing to appear nude on a lawn in Blue Velvet. I don't think they're hacks, but they had a bad Moral Guardian period in the 80s.

One of my favourites. It traumatised me when I first saw it as a kid. It's actually pretty sweet how Newt finds a mother in Ripley. Everything about is awesome from the technology, the script, even the tactics of the marines and the aliens. James Cameron, what a dude. When Guillermo Del Toro’s father was kidnapped in 1997, Cameron gave him a million dollars to pay the ransom. I looked this up. That's pretty awesome that he helped him solve a dangerous problem like that. I hope they still caught the guys. Tough situation to be in. Still, what a dude.

They couldn't repeat the horror element because the monster was already fully revealed at the end of the first movie, so they had to use another genre, which in this case was action.
The same thing happened in the next two movies, where they used detective fiction and the political thriller, respectively.

Also, some major problems for the movie, like a warship with no captain and crew.
