Maybe it will be remade as one of the newer Star Wars movies.

I've watched Kagemusha a few years ago, and it's almost like a retelling of The Prisoner of Zenda but set in medieval Japan. Other than that, I remember very little about it, but I was impressed with the visual scale of the film.

I didn't know it had anything to do with Lucas or Copolla. Pretty interesting. It's a good movie.

Great film, though it somewhat lives in the shadow of Kurosawa's next film, Ran

Maybe it will be remade as one of the newer Star Wars movies. I thought it was already remade as an Ivan Reitman movie with Kevin Kline. I couldn't get over the similarities.

Coppola and Kurosawa starred in a series of whiskey ads together during production on that film.
Apparently these ads were an inspiration for Sofia Coppola for "Lost in Translation".

I've watched it and it's a truly beautiful movie, honestly one of Kurosawa's most best from a visual standpoint. That said, from a plot standpoint I consider it one of his lesser films and it's one of his only film I've seen that I would actually call boring.
Interestingly Kurosawa was on record of saying that he was proud of the film, but viewed it to an extent to be nothing more than a dress rehearsal for Ran.
