Sopranos Breaking Bad Dexter The Killing(US) Family Guy( early seasons) South Park Threes Company Six Feet Under House MD Borgia( Canal series) Have you seen the Showtime's version of The Borgias? What did you think of it and how it compared to Canal's take on that story. I watched showtime's The Borgias and loved it, they did a great job and Jeremy Irons was great as Rodrigo Borgia or Pope Alexander VI. The Whole cast was perfect. i loved The Borgias so im curious about the differences with Borgia by Canal series.

Yes I have seen both of them. I do recommend both and the Showtime Borgias is also a fav tv show but it just couldnt make my Top 10 list Showtimes Borgias were more hollywood- more expensive sets , alot more soundtrack( Canals is about nonexistant) and they were able to pay for better actors overall The majority of the stories are the same but I prefer Canal due to the fact that it is far more historically accurate, and Mark Ryders performance of Cesare Borgia. Much of Showtimes version never happened. Since you saw the Showtime version I highly recommend you see the Canal version- which is on Netflix, FYI. Both have their strong points and weak points.I disagree that it had a perfect cast. Not even close. I think if you took the best characters of each series and combined them then it would truly be a perfect cast Without spoiling anything heres the comparison of the series casts IMO: Showtimes Rodrigo was better than Canals ( Jeremy irons looks somewhat like the real Alexander VI and he is a better actor) both were good.Showtimes was better casted Canals Lucrezia was slightly better than Showtime( only slightly)- liked them both but Holly Grainger just feels more sympathetic- whereas Canals comes off as a spoiled brat most of the time- but that might be the entire point- i dont know- both are great IMO.Canal gets a slight nod because she looks more like the real Lucrezia .Holly was more hollywood beautiful- a little too pretty for the role.... Canals Cesare was far better than Showtimes- Not to say Showtimes François Arnaud was bad-just a bit too sympathetic a character and Mark Ryders performance should have won him and emmy and golden globe easily. Such a disgrace he wasn't even nominated. Still keeps me up at night. I am not kidding- his performance is probably the best in TV history. Both were great but you couldn't compare to the brilliant performance on the Canal version. The way he dishes the lines is just breathtaking. Showtimes Michelletto was far far better than Canals- more backstory and a far more complex character. Sean Harris went above and beyond there with his terrifying performance of a loyal mercenary. Canals didnt show much- kind of a lame supporting role. Showtimes Juan Borgia was better than Canals- just a better actor and they make him more pathetic Canals Gulia Farnese was much much better than Showtimes. The Showtime one was just a pretty face- and wooden acting- at least in comparison. The Canals version was beautiful, sexy, and tough. You feared her as much as any man because she was a powerful noble woman who didn't take crap off of anyone. Both Vanozza Cattaneo were probably equally good- just not great. Canals Cardinal Della Rovere was better than Showtimes- more accurate- Canal showed a more accurate portrayal too- via homosexuality factor and what happens after Rodrigo dies. Showtimes Cardinal Sforza was alot better than Canals- Peter Sullivan nailed it- the other guy didnt. Showtimes Catarina Sforzas was much better than Canals- she had tons more screentime with better acting. Showtimes Giovanni Sforza was alot better than Canals- albiet more inaccurate. Canal overall was better also because when the show actually ended- it had the ending set up. It was a satisfying conclusion with an excellent epilogue . Showtime was cancelled with no real conclusion. This is all my opinion. You should def watch the series and be the judge yourself to see if you agree with me.

Wooo thanks so much for all the details on the comparisons, I will definitely see Canal's Borgia, especially because of your preference of their cesare and Julia Farnese. i thought the actress who played Julia in Showtime's Borgia was gorgeous, she looks a bitt like Nicole Kidman but I'm curious about this one. Francis Arnurd annoyed me sometimes, he was a little wooden and tlooked very much like a pretty boy so I thigh them Canal's Cesare a little better. Mmm mm so much praise for that actor intrigued me, though I'm not sure if I will agree is the best performance on tv ever for me that honor goes to Hugh Laurie as House. Anyway ay I'll write you again when I finish watching Borgia

Mmm mm so much praise for that actor intrigued me, though I'm not sure if I will agree is the best performance on tv ever for me that honor goes to Hugh Laurie as House. Anyway ay I'll write you again when I finish watching Borgia Your very welcome. OK. I look forward to hearing about what you think about it. Its 3 seasons long it lasts a while. Gonna take some time for you to binge. FYI Season 2s Cesare is best. Hugh Laurie and Mark Ryder are def the 2 tops in my book. even surpassing Jennifer Carpenter in Dexter and the 2 leads in Breaking Bad. If you decide at the end that Hugh Laurie is better its probably because House had 8 seasons and Cesare had 3. still Lauries House is truly phenomenal. Yeah I can see Francois's Cesare was a bit annoying- He was made too sympathetic( hollywood) He didnt do anything horrible until the very end when he was planning on killing Lucrezias innocent husband just to helped get the throne of Naples( something that never happened in real life in that way) Canals Cesare was a true anti-hero. He could love you 1 minute or kill you the next. He longed for greatness, and he was- on the show. One thing I will say in Canal innaccurately made him a military genius and expert swordsman, Showtime not so. In real life Cesare was good at both but was no Julius Cesear. Much of Borgia history is clouded with jealousy and mudslinging from that longtime Borgia family enemy A-hole Pope Julius II( della rovere) although Farnese brother Alessandro becomes pope decades later and called Rodrigo the best administrator of the church since St Peter. Rodrigo wasnt a monster. he was no better or worse than every other Cardinal. In fact there is some reports that stated that Alexander VI died truly repentant of his all his sins. Oh and lastly Alessandro has a wayyy more bigger and better role in Canal version- He had only a few scenes in the Showtime one. watch this to learn about the real Borgias.
