Random stuff that irritated me: 1. Thor somehow lost the power to generate lightning from himself. He's completely unable to create lightning in this movie unless he has Stormbreaker. Seems whatever development he got in Ragnarok was completely reversed. He's back to being god of hammers.
2. Stormbreaker acting like a jealous girlfriend. Absolutely cringe worthy.
3. Korg. Funny as hell in Ragnarok but he just kept running his mouth in this move to the point where I wanted him to die. Then he actually seems to die, only for it to turn out to be an even bigger joke.
4. Screaming goats. Completely unnecessary and I didn't get the reason (or the joke) for them screaming all the time.
5. Not enough screen time for Valkyrie. Just when I finally warmed up to Tessa in the role and wanted more of her, she's completely sidelined.
6. Not enough screen time for Gorr. He looked like he was a great villain but he's just not developed enough. Which leads me to
7. Why is this movie so damn short? Less than 2 hours even with credits included? Yet they try to jampack 2 fairly heavy storylines into it. Would it really have killed them to add an extra 10-15 minutes to let the movie breath a bit?
8. Why does Thor feel so depowered? He could have oneshot those shadow monsters in the end if he retained his usual power scale. Remember what he did in Wakanda? Heck, remember him destroying acres of Jotunheim landscape with a single hit in his VERY FIRST MOVIE?
9. Why is Thor so dumb? Sometimes he can be a bit clueless and full of himself but he was never completely dumb, not even in Ragnarok. He was pretty dumb in Endgame but we can excuse that due to being drunk and suffering from PTSD. But here he's pretty much at the same level of Drax and Mantis and he has zero excuses. When Starlord looks like a completely responsible adult next to Thor then you know something is terribly wrong. He was completely character assassinated in this movie for the sake of comedy.
10. Why are the Asgardians so pathetic? Even Asgardian farmers were previously shown to be bulletproof and strong enough to throw around cars. Regular Asgardians in this movie seemed no more impressive than your average human populace. What the hell happened to their warrior race? For that matter, why are their buildings and fashion so Earthlike? It would have been great to see them retain a bit more of their culture.
11. Finally the humor. I don't mind humor in MCU movies. Heck I don't mind lots of humor, but it needs to be smart humor. This goofy, silly, loony toony humor has no place in a modern superhero movie unless you're making a parody. And they pretty much couldn't get through a single scene without a joke getting dropped. It got old really fast.
Now, stuff I actually liked: 1. Jane Foster was actually good. It's refreshing to see a powerful female hero who isn't a Mary Sue and has a fair amount of personality. At this point I think I'm perfectly fine with them killing off Hemsworth's Thor and just continuing with Jane Foster moving forward. At least she isn't being treated like a complete joke. 2. The romantic story of Thor and Jane was actually something you could feel here. Too bad they didn't spend a bit more time fleshing that out but at least it's miles better than what they had with the first 2 movies.
Actually now that I think about it, the love story between Thor and Jane might just be the best thing about this movie, and the fact that I'm saying that should be clue enough that there's something seriously wrong with this MCU flick.

This was not a good movie. It was like a spoof of a spoof of itself. Every joke was stretched beyond its breaking point, if it was even funny to begin with. All over the place tonally, Bale was in a completely different film. It was borderline incoherent. The entire city of the gods sequence made no sense at all and featured some kind of emoji or something as a character. What the actual fuck. They 'killed' Zeus and just walk away. Zeus, who is also played like a clown (just like Thor), whom Thor apparently admired more than his own father. We've gone from fat slob loser Thor to single dad with a little girl sidekick Thor. Credits read, 'Thor will return.' At this point, I don't think I care if he does. This is the sixth movie in phase four and I can't say I'm dying to see any of them again anytime soon. Between this and the continued downward spiral of the Disney+ shows, I'm seriously concerned for the future of the MCU. I think I'm pretty much done with the MCU for now. I tried to hold on to hope throughout phase 4 but the one-two punch of Ms. Marvel and Thor L&T has finally done me in. I'll still watch their future movies but I'll probably just wait for them on D+. No more opening weekend excitement for me. Right now I'm regretting wasting a date night with my wife watching this instead of seeing Top Gun instead. Btw, how goes your ranking of the phase 4 movies?

I heard how Thor created an army of kids with super powers. This sounds extremely stupid.

"Hey we want to a have a scene with lots of little Thors running around in a battle. Let's give Thor the power to grant anyone and everyone his powers so we could get that scene in place even though he's clearly never had powers like that before." "Hey we want to have female Thor in a movie even though Mjolnir is shattered. Cool, let's give Mjolnir the power to reconstruct itself with zero explanation whatsoever." "Hey we want to see the goats pulling Thor on a boat. Cool, let's make Stormbreaker pull off a tantrum so that Thor can't depend on it to bifrost them around." It's freaking lazy writing and it completely breaks this movie's continuity with the rest of the MCU.

The goats are mythology, dude. The screaming was obviously Waititi's sense of humor.

The goats are mythology, dude. The screaming was obviously Waititi's sense of humor. Yes, like I said, they just made stuff up. I mean, did Mjolnir always have the ability to reform itself whenever Thor said so? Why then did he not use it in Ragnarok or Infinity War or Endgame? Clearly it was just made up for this movie specifically. And yes, the goats are part of his mythology. The problem is they're completely unnecessary for this version of MCU Thor because he can 1. Fly and 2. Use the Bifrost to teleport. So they gave Stormbreaker emotions (completely out of nowhere) just so it could throw a tantrum so they had an excuse to use the goats. The made up part here is SB's emotions, not the goats.

Well, that was… a movie. I guess? It was okay. There were some great moments. Bale is just on another level and deserved a better movie around him. The Jane story worked really well and was surprisingly profound. Everything else was just candy. Sugary and hollow. It’s crazy that they cut out Gorr scenes while keeping all the other nonsense. Marvel and the fucking jokes. Just take your stories seriously for once already. Is that asking too much?

The first joke with the axe showing up as he tried to summon Mjolnir was kind of funny. Then Taikia runs the gag into the ground. Especially since it requires you to turn off your brain and not wonder why the weapons are suddenly sentient. The emoji god was the most retarded thing I’ve ever seen. And this is a scene that could’ve actually focused on some cool mythology. The Black Panther goddess is a blurry background character because Taikia needed to put this shit in instead. WTF.

How great was that scene where Gorr has Thor, Jane and Valkyrie captured? I loved that part. Why couldn’t more of the movie be that good?

Yeah, that whole thing with the Axe was bad. It didn't make sense at all and using it's "jealously" as an excuse to have them ride around in a goat boat was some really bad writing. That "God" bit was really distracting for me. Especially it's animation style, like it just walked off the Lego Movie and found its way into Love and Thunder.
