My brother saw this and- well, first let me say that this dude literally likes every movie he sees. The worst he ever says about a movie is “it was good.not great.” And, he’s liked every MCU movie. But he HATED this movie! He ranted about how much it sucked for like ten minutes. I was sort of embarrassed to say that I enjoyed it!

But he HATED this movie! He ranted about how much it sucked for like ten minutes. I was sort of embarrassed to say that I enjoyed it! Similar scenario with my wife. She's normally very forgiving of movies and has liked or loved pretty much every MCU movie. The only one she had a bit of negative comment on was Captain Marvel (because she found Carol Danvers to be unlikable) but she still ended up liking the movie. She's definitely nowhere near as critical of these movies as I am. But man, did she hate Thor L&T. I can sum up her reaction to the movie with this timeline: First 10 mins of the film: "Oh wow, this is so cool." Next 10 mins: "Huh. Funny but... weird. Is Thor supposed to be this dumb?" Next 10 mins: "Ok, the jokes are starting to get too much now." Next 10 mins: "But, but why?!" Next 10 mins: "What?! Seriously?!" Next 10 mins: "Oh my god! Just shut up already." Next 10 mins till end of movie: "Urghhh......" *groan*groan*groan* I think she cheered once when Korg seemingly got killed, then groaned again when he turned out to be alive.

It seems Chris' mission of making this one for his children was its weakness. As I mentioned earlier I think, Zeus was a joke... & everything trickled down from that. McThor.
Alas, this'll probably end Chris' ability to ever open a movie on his own ever again non-MCU.

Thor L&T is currently the 2nd lowest rated MCU movie in RT after Eternals. It's rated even lower than Thor: TDW.

Weird when you find yourself disliking something, but for almost the opposite reasons why everyone else dislikes it. For me, the tone of this was all over the place. It was like two different movies in one: a zany sequel to Ragnarok, and a boring sequel to the first two (three if you count the profound drama Bale alone was doing, but that's more like a short film sandwiched in). If you ask me, I'd rather watch the zany Ragnarok nonsense than the bland Thor 1/2 followup. I've never liked Jane or felt any chemistry between her and Thor, and digging her up 9 years after the last time I saw her and giving her cancer and Thor powers didn't win me over. All it did was remind me of the first two movies I've gladly put behind me. I didn't think Ragnarok was the second coming like some people, but stupid OTT bullshit like the first 10 minutes with the Guardians and My Big Fat Greek Russell Crowe are at least Taika's wheelhouse, even if his style has already overstayed its welcome a bit. A remake of Brian's Song with Jane is not, so it was just clunky and uninvolving. (also, if you somehow took Ragnarok remotely seriously with stuff like Jeff Goldblum doing a parody of himself and the absolute dump it took on Planet Hulk, but THIS one went too far in the whacky hijinks department, more power to ya)
So yeah, fuck this movie, but not for having "too many jokes". Maybe too many BAD jokes. I think the scene where Valkyrie and Jane randomly headbob some tunes gave ME cancer.

Goldstein revealed how he was immediately hit with the fact that he didn't have the athletic build to match up with the role of Hercules. He shared his concerns with Love and Thunder director, Taika Watiti who told him he had two weeks to get to training. "Yeah, when I spoke to Taika, I said, 'You know I'm basically like a skinny comedian?' I said, 'When is this filming?' It was like in two weeks, and I was like, 'I mean, I'll do my best, but two weeks feels …' I said, 'He doesn't have to be as big as Thor, does he?,'" Goldstein said. Goldstein shared how he immediately got to work his body even on the day of filming, adding; "And look, on the day, I mean, I'm doing 400 pushups that day. I was fit to explode. I did the best I could on that day." collider.com/thor-love-and-thunder-brett-goldstein-hercules-training-comments/

That G** damn dumpling a**hole can f*** right off!!!!!!!!!!!!!%#& Yep! That was the dumbest thing Marvel has done in that movie. It was completely distracting regardless of how quickly it was on screen. I have no idea why they went with the Lego Movie animation with it. It didn't feel organic within the MCU. It's even more insulting when there are plenty of other deities they could have pulled from the Marvel comics. Some who would have contributed more to the world building than two visual gags of a "Gods"

Some who would have contributed more to the world building than two visual gags of a "Gods" It’s the single worst gag in the MCU. The second worst being that Korg joke during the destruction of Asgard. Taikia really does know how to ruin his own movies. Which is a shame because without those dumb ass gags those two scenes would’ve been pretty great.

Fantastic movie. Among the MCU's best. 10/10 classic Thor adventure.
