So what has been your experience with covid? Have you gotten it? Do you know others who got it, etc.?
For me, I got it right before Christmas 2021. I was double vaccinated at the time. I wore a mask always everywhere I went publicly. I’ll admit though I was getting kinda lazy at the time and was wearing a really loose fitting mask. I thought it would be good enough but obviously I was wrong. The case I hand was comparatively mild. I had muscle aches and a really sore throat for about a week. For 2 weeks I was just exhausted and couldn’t really do anything at all. After the 2 weeks though I was recovered (as far as I know). I got the booster a couple months later.
Most of the people I know personally who got covid had mild cases. One did end up in the hospital because they had asthma. They ended up recovering and being okay.
Now I’ve had acquaintances that weren’t so lucky. My bosses father in law got it and passed away from it. He wasn’t very old (65). He did have diabetes though. An acquaintance of my mother had parents who were older (late 80s). They both got it and sadly died from it. I had a work friend who knew someone in their mid-40s who got it. They were seemingly healthy as far as they knew. They ended up passing away from it. So I guess you never really know how it will effect you.

I don't think I caught the virus, although I as well as my mom and brother did get quite sick a couple of months ago and I thought we had it but it didn't seem to be as bad as how covid was described. But it was still really bad for the three of us and the rapid antigen tests we had came out positive so I guess it was it. I didn't know many personally that caught it outside of my Nana who was said to have it when she went to the hospital when she had pancreatitis but she's OK now.
With vaccines, I only had the first shot since I wasn't going out much anyway and was doing college in an online environment. Plus a lot of people in my family were very skeptic about the vaccines but let's not delve into that. Of course I always wore a mask when it was mandatory and I wash my hands everytime I came home from somewhere (and still do).

I think my experience with covid is exclusively the mask and the vaccine. To the best of my knowledge I have not met anyone who has had it.

My dad had it, but he was able to get over it. Everyone in my family is vaccinated.

Thankfully, I have never contracted it. My dad contracted a mild case of it, recovered, and received a vaccine. One of my former co-workers contracted it, but was not vaccinated. He still recovered and came back for work, but the symptoms remain for three months.

Not had it yet.
3 shots, waiting for 4th variant cocktail this fall.
I've heard close stories of nothing but a cold to 3 weeks someone my age barely making it alive. A few long-COVID ppl too feeling fatigued months still after.

got it twice (that i know of). First time unvaccinated in december 2020, delta, and it was a fairly mild case. Second time fully vaccinated in december 2021, omicron and that was a toughter one to get over - mych higher fever. Go figure.

No one in my immediate family ever contracted it (at least, not that I know of).
Some cousins & second cousins, yes (I never got near them when they had it).

Catman and Catwoman have avoided it. Some friends, relatives, and acquaintances have not been so fortunate. Some have died.

I believe my Dad's cousin's father-in-law died of covid. I apparently met him when I was a teenager, but I have no recollection. Some of my immediate family members got it. One didn't even know he had it until he took an antibody test later on, the others weren't very sick, either. Mostly, my experience with covid has been navigating boredom, and finding ways to stay busy. I've gotten a lot of things done that I had put off doing for years, so the pandemic was strangely rewarding. Like most things in life, what really matters is not what happens to you, but rather how you respond to it.

I want to say my case involves last minute Christmas shopping. I developed a fever on New Year's Eve (YAY) which lasted off and on for five days. Thanks to a grand total of three positive tests over a stretch of 9-10 days, I ended up missing a total of seven days of work. The worst part was going to one of those pop-up testing sites, and getting the immediate feeling I wouldn't get the results online in a timely manner. A trip to the nearest CVS was in order, where I lucked into a supply of at home covid tests. On early Tuesday morning I got what I wanted to see- a negatively test. I had been hesitant to get myself a booster shot, I finally got it before the end of January.

I know a lot of people who got the weaker variants and all recovered well.
I have never had it despite teaching the last two years in an elementary school where mask and sanitizing protocols are very iffy.

I've never been tested, so if ever I was "positive," I was wholly asymptomatic.
In the pre-vaccination period, when illness/death rates were being closely monitored and reported, one former colleague passed away.
To my knowledge, all of my close friends and neighbors have been vaccinated and boosted. A handful of them have tested positive AFTER being protected. None of them was very ill. They isolated for a few days, and all has been well after the experience.

I've been very careful as I have a daughter with health issues. I still wear 2 masks!
Sorry for those who have caught it/lost someone.
A family friend just died of COVID. He had MANY other health issues.
Word to the wise: not time to let down the guard. Those who are compromised are still at risk.
Be safe!

Didn't catch it until a few months ago, about a year after I got my two shots. One day I got a headache that just kept getting worse. I was under the blankets cold while at the same time my head was on fire. It basically went away after I had some ice cream. Between the easy cure and my home test turning up negative, I thought it must have been an average fever or something, but then I got a positive covid result about a week later while trying to submit for a movie gig on a more professional test so it must have been covid after all.
I think I passed it onto my immediate family and girlfriend but they were only mildly sick as well.
And that's about it.

As close to dying from it as a person can get. For over two weeks I could barely get out of bed. The only time I did was to go to the bathroom. Could not eat. No appetite at all. Had to force myself to eat something to stay alive. Did drink lots of energy drinks to keep me hydrated. Two times I tried to take a shower and both times I collapsed to my knees in the shower. It was all I could do to rinse off. Probably the worst two weeks of my life. I hope no one has to ever go through what I did.
But the good news is I seem to have fully recovered. Back to riding my bike 10-25 miles a day.

The first time I got really sick. I was miserable.
The second time I thought I caught a cold.

I came down with it at the start of this month. Get extreme chills for two full days and a bit of a sore throat. The next worst thing was I lost all sense of taste for about 4 days or so. Other than that it was similar to a case of the flu.
Still got a slight cough but other than that I'm over it. I got off lightly it would seem...
