I'm not given to binary thinking which leads one down the road to false dichotomies.

I'm not given to binary thinking which leads one down the road to false dichotomies. This is in reference to the Bing Crosby/Bob Hope comedy movies by Frank and Panama. I think they were all made in the 40s by Paramount.

Which one is the best? How many are there? Seven, from 1940 to 1962: 40s -- SINGAPORE/ZANZIBAR/MOROCCO/UTOPIA/RIO 50s -- BALI 60s -- HONG KONG MOROCCO is probably best, though UTOPIA has its moments -- especially Hope catching himself while ordering in a tough Yukon saloon: "I'll have a lemonade ... err, IN A DIRTY GLASS!"

I have a soft spot for The Road To Zanzibar. It was a strange one, very non-pc but not mean spirited about it, just weird feeling today by today's standards. The series was new and Bing and Bob were still polishing up their acts when they made it.

'Road To Rio' (1947) is a good one. Bob Hope uses an eyebrow to repair a moustache while Bing Crosby shines some shoes.

Road To Rio which is rarely aired is my favorite, followed by Morocco and Utopia. The others I can take or leave, esp Hong Kong, which was a low point.

Which one is the best? How many are there? Howdy, Kijii-- I'm sure everyone has his/her own favorite, but I'll answer the second question first by quoting Wikipedia... ...and the first question second by quoting myself from a different thread: Hope that helps!

Paramount had a strange policy, they withhold movies if another movie with a certain star turned out to be popular, so they wouldn't compete with themselves, So that if Robert Benchley was dead at the time Utophia (in Sweden called Alaska) had it's premiere, it was actually ready to ship out a few years earlier.
