Myself, I had a dream involving Matt Cordell, the Maniac Cop. Cordell was chasing me in this office building with his big knife, and he was wearing this very black police uniform. No matter which floor I was on in this building there was Cordell, ready to pounce on me. So I'd run for my life.
Anybody else have a nightmare about being terrorized by a horror movie character?

Yes, When I was a kid, horror movies scared me, abit... Don't they scare every kid...
I dreamt that Chucky the doll from "Child's Play" came into my bedroom while I was sleeping and tried to kill me with a knife. But in my dream, I woke up, pinned him to the floor, and beat him up.
I never had that dream again, and the Chucky movies never bothered me again.

Yeah, the Blob. I had 3 distinctive nightmares about the Blob, including one that it spawned a white miniature that came up the hole in the floor where the radiator pipe went. And not so famous but THE horror movie villain that has haunted me the most in my dreams, clear into my teen years, is The Bat: Between the ages of 4 and 16 I had countless nightmares that he was in our house trying to kill us.

Once I had a dream about Leatherface chasing some teenagers. Yes, not me, but some random teenagers.

i once dreamt that my dog transformed into Michael Myers and came after me.
my nightmares are usually more existential than that, though.

I somewhat remember in the distant past having a couple of nightmares about Jason, though he was a bit different... probably closer to his part 2 appearance but without the sack on his head. The only thing I remember distinctly was trying to crawl underneath of a bamboo fence, looking up, and seeing him on the other side with machete in hand, posed to chop my head off.

Anybody else have a nightmare about being terrorized by a horror movie character? Well, I kind of think that the nightmarish cyborg/skeleton in the first Terminator movie is all horror, and I have dreamt about being on the run with this terrible looking and evil thing right behind me, walking slow but always right on my tail. And it has been somewhere between 4-5 of these dreams the past few years, the last one came only a couple of weeks ago, where I was trying to hide but the terminator cracked open the wall with his head, and I remember those creepy machine like noises from when he moved his legs and arms, and I was more or less very close to getting my head squashed in, thankfully I woke up right before it happened. I also used to have terrible nightmares about scary looking or disfigured midgets/children, and they tend to end up crawling under my bed, and somehow they try to get to me by grabbing a hold of me, and sometimes it feel so real, that I must go and check under the bed when I wake up, to see that there is nobody there.

Yep I would say the Terminator skeleton qualifies as a horror villain. Wow you must have had a nonstop Terminator movie marathon to cause those recurring dreams, lol.

As a kid, I couldn't sleep unless the covers were all around my neck, to protect me from vampires, who I guess I assumed wouldn't dare penetrate my bed coverings to bite me. I had numerous Frank Langella Dracula nightmares, and also the serial Dracula played by Michael Nouri on TV's Cliffhangers.

Several actually. As a child I had a recurring nightmare that featured Freddy Jason and Chucky...but it devolved into a somwwhat hilarious looney tunes-esque scuffle.

Yes, the Thing (fuck you John Carpenter!).
A couple of times at least. One time I was in school and someone was thinging out in the back of the science classroom.
You hear that breathing sound and you want to get out of there!
But usually my dreams are mundane. I dreamed I was in a mall food court with a group of tourists filling out a questionnaire survey and Jack Nicholson was one of us sitting at the table beside me doing the same. But he was not in the Shining wardrobe. More like As Good As It Gets Jack..

I actually had a Freddy dream once, but it wasn't nearly as cool as it sounds.

Thought I'd dig up this old thread to say that last night I dreamed I was being terrorized by the Sawyer family from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Can't remember all the details, just that it was a very unpleasant dream. I do remember that I finally managed to escape from the farmhouse like Marilyn Burns did.

I know I've had some pretty bad dreams of the aliens in the "Aliens" movies. Maybe once every six months I'll have a dream about them. I think one of my fears about monsters, is the one's that are shapeless. And for me, the Zenomorph body-type, as iconic as they look, are haunting. My dreams of them often begin with me waking up in their alien lairs, with very little light, and no concept of where I was at or where I was going. And as soon as I was in the presence of an alien, I'd feel it, and either see it or feel it seeing me. I'd run, just hearing the walls move, as they are silent hunters. I'd never know in each nightmare on whether or not I'd be murdered by the mouth-tongue or for if I'd wake up cocooned. I usually never lasted long enough to have a chest bursting experience. In a case or two I'd even kill myself in the dream, just so I wouldn't have to experience worse. And in my nightmares, whatever they may be about, I can almost never wake up from them until I die or that moment when I have nothing left to live for. And I never had a nightmare about the alien queen, or face-huggers. It's usually just been run and die, Dallas style like from the first movie. That scene still pops, real horror. I can't remember if it was a rumor or fact, that none of the actors could see the alien suit before the scene they filmed with it, to add that real terror to their performance. Lol, that's madness. Till this day when I think about aliens existing. I don't picture little green men. I picture the aliens from these movies. Little green men are like Paul to me, from the movie "Paul" ha.
I've also had "The Thing" in a nightmare or two. Another shapeless monster, but I really can't remember those.
Oh, and there's always the classic Romero Zombies in a nightmare ha. I have those at least once a month. Either from a scene on one of the sets, or real places in my life, to even places I have no clue about. I remember once running in a nightmare for the entire night, like on streets I didn't know, through houses, through open fields, until I had nothing left but to die. In which I'd finally wake up.
Lol, my nightmares are maddening. I luved hearing the other nightmares, keep this thread around!

Quite a while ago now I recall having A Nightmare on Elm Street-related dream (which seemed a bit random, considering I haven’t watched that movie in a long time).
Anyway, the relatives of (presumably) one of Freddy Krueger’s victims were visiting the grave of the deceased, as the movie’s theme was playing. Then there was a ‘record scratch’ and the music shifted into something more ‘rock & roll’ or ‘grungy’ (I can’t remember which) and the dream ended with Freddy’s gloved hand bursting up from the grave.

Wow. That is quite a weird dream you had there Chalice and maybe your dream is secretly telling you that you should watch the 'Nightmare On Elm Street' movies again since you haven't watched them for a long time. Have you watched all the movies in the franchise or only the first one 'cause if not you might like the others even more and I personally think 'A Nightmare On Elm Street 3, 4 and 5' and 'New Nightmare' are the best. I rarely get scared in Horror movies anymore 'cause I have watched so many of them over the years I am used to them now but a weird thing is I don't dream and if I do I don't remember it. I remember dreaming when I was little and can even recall some of the things that happened in those dreams but not for a long time have I dreamed which would make me the safest against Freddy Kreuger.
