That does bring back memories. Loved that show but I distinctly remember it was a black guy driving the hearse. Maybe my memory has been twisted once again. Think I'll rewatch Six Feet Under to see if you are correct.

The movie you are thinking of is the memorable 1982 comedy Night Shift - directed by Ron Howard and starring Michael Keaton, and the "hearse" is actually a genuine vintage Cadillac ambulance.

"Let's scare Jessica to death"... They are outsiders in town and the locals Leer and jeer them. The main character's boyfriend drives a hearse and makes a similar wisecrack like OP's posted.
