I still think it's going to be Nakia Has to be someone from the Panther tribe, Nakia was noted as being from the Water Tribe in the first movie. Could theoretically be Okoye

Kevin Feige On Not Recasting T’Challa In The MCU: ‘It Was Much Too Soon’ "Speaking to Empire in our world-exclusive Black Panther: Wakanda Forever cover feature, Marvel boss Kevin Feige opened up on the decision not to recast T’Challa. “It just felt like it was much too soon to recast,” he says, likening their approach to Marvel’s long-standing ethos in the comics. “Stan Lee always said that Marvel represents the world outside your window. And we had talked about how, as extraordinary and fantastical as our characters and stories are, there’s a relatable and human element to everything we do. The world is still processing the loss of Chad. And Ryan poured that into the story.” Once Feige and Coogler figured out where they wanted to go, they got back to work on making a sequel that really mattered. “The conversations were entirely about, yes, ‘What do we do next?’” Feige explains. “And how could the legacy of Chadwick – and what he had done to help Wakanda and the Black Panther become these incredible, aspirational, iconic ideas – continue? That’s what it was all about.” www.empireonline.com/movies/news/kevin-feige-not-recasting-tchalla-mcu-exclusive

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Tenoch Huerta confirms his villain character Namor is a mutant in the MCU, just as he is in Marvel's comics.

That's good news. I was starting to get worried that the MCU had become gun-shy with making longer movies. Maybe the reactions to Thor T&L convinced them to give BP2 a longer runtime.

Wait, Riri Williams is going to be in BP2?
I wonder how that works out.

Looks pretty good so far. And looks like it's Shuri.

Looks pretty good so far. And looks like it's Shuri. Ugh. I was really hoping it wouldn't be Shuri who became the new BP. Now I hope the writing is good enough to justify how a tech whiz with seemingly very little h2h combat training can win the waterfall challenge and earn the BP mantle.

I think the waterfall challenge is to be king, not Panther. Though, I do share your reservations about Shuri taking on the Panther mantle. I also don’t think the actress has anywhere near enough screen presence to be the new lead. Should’ve been Lupita Nyongo.

She was offered the right to challenge him in the waterfall, which she declined. But it at least proves she's worthy enough to challenge. Lupita is also a far stronger actress than Letitia and much more capable of playing lead in a movie like this. As for the waterfall challenge, the rules were pretty muddled. It never said whether it was for being king or for being BP, but when Killmonger defeated T'Challa he became both king and black panther. They also had a whole ritual of removing T'Challa's powers before the challenge and restoring it after, which seemed to indicate they've had repeated instances of the black panther fighting in this challenge, whereas T'Challa had only been king for a short while at that point.

I’m kind of hoping they do with Namor what they did with Thanos in Infinity War and give him more screen time than the heroes. Or at least make it an ensemble movie and give M’Baku and Nakia as much (if not more) screen time as Shuri.

Don’t know why anyone would be surprised or disappointed about Shuri being the new Black Panther. People had been talking about how she’d make a good Black Panther even before Chadwick Boseman’s passing, and there’s an actual basis for it in the comics.

The MCU has made it abundantly clear that they don't mind diverting from the comics when it suits them.
