So outside of the casting of the leading lady herself and the Directors being picked, there's not a whole lot to talk about. I figure I'd make a thread to start a discussion for Marvel first female lead film.
So any ideas on what villian they should use or storyline you would like to see done?

Somehow I think it will have something to do with the Kree, but I honestly don't know how. Maybe after Infinity War they have a reason to come to Earth. Maybe they blame us, or maybe they're on a mission to stop Thanos as well. IDK. One of her early stories were about solving the mystery of who Captain Mar-Vell was, so perhaps he's held prisoner by the military but she believes he holds the key to stopping some other threat. I'll go with that. I have no idea.

// dawn one //
terrigen rains... irrigating the crawling blue forests on the slopes of mighty Vah-Rekk //
// dawn two //
five hundred super-citizens of Kree-Lar trawling the tides of the sea of monsters in search of new, fabulous mutations to enrich the genetic core //
// dawn three - in the fourth aeon of gene mastery //
sentient beings are numberless
I VOW TO SAVE THEM ALL
delusions are inexhaustible
I VOW TO END THEM ALL
the gates of creation are manifold
I VOW TO ENTER THEM ALL
THE KREE WAY IS SUPREME

The Kree seem a logical choice since we've been introduced to them already.

is she going to join the Guardians? Only if her movie isn't popular enough, but they want to keep the character around. I think they'd probably use Nova as the equivalent in Guardians, though.

So here are some potential Vilians for the film or even future sequels! ( Not sure if marvel has any rights to some of these) The KreeA good possibility, They're already introduced into the MCU and have played a big part in her origin and comic series. MoonstoneHer powerset makes her a decent match, she is also long time archenemy of carol. Plus more female antagonist are always welcomed. Doomsday manYeah marvel has its own Doomsday. He could work if they pair him up with another villain. TitannusOkay he's a skrull, so he might not be able to be used. He's a decent power house. Yon-RoggA Kree scientist, honestly he could probably work with doomsday man. Warren TravelerHe actually went up against Doctor Strange as well. He's a sorcerer and fought carol back when she was Ms. Marvel. Two odd characters that marvel can play around with: SteeplejackAnd The Hood

In my mind, there is no debate about who the villain of the Captain Marvel movie should be.
It's the Kree and the Accuser Corps.
Captain Marvel is Marvel's chance to fully incorporate one of the most famous Alien races in all of Marvel's cosmology into the MCU.
I find Kree culture endlessly fascinating.
Having started off as a backward culture of barbarians, the Kree robbed the then benevolent Skrulls of their technology and, in short order, became a galactic power in their own right. Their empire spans thousands of worlds across the Large Magellanic Cloud. They are genetically diverse, deeply fascist and ultra-militaristic. They worship the Supreme Intelligence and yet they believe in no god because they have a mathematical equation proving the nonexistence of such a deity.
I think Captain Marvel should be structured as an alien-invasion caper where she - alone - has to ward off the Kree and their bizarre weapons of subjugation and mass destruction.
The Omni-Wave Projector would make the world engine look like a child's toy.

If they don't kill him off they can developed him more down the line, maybe even become a space Lex Luther. Carol could be marvel's superman.

Adam Warlock will be the equivalent. I Wish it was NOVA but it's Adam Warlock. Nova is one of my favorite SH. I so want a movie with him and the corps. But him being a "clone" the equivalent in marvel (actually that would be Quasar but you know what i mean) of green lantern will not work in his favor. EDIT: And that is why all SH fans should want for all SH movies to be successfull. Avengers brings us JL, BVS brought us Civil War etc but it works on the negative, Green Lantern flop makes a nova movie less probable.

is she going to join the Guardians? Depending on if James Gunn is okay with that. She's more likely going to get her trilogy and multiple avengers appearances before joining the guardians roster.

I love that they're enriching the history. So maybe we'll get a little secret invasion following the fall of Thanos?

I cannot wait to see how this comes together.
