Some racing games are like this, that are modern and realistic:
Games that have cars with high acceleration and good brakes on them or something. And it actually seems counter productive, I'll explain why below.
The scenerio is, you have a modern realistic driving game, with a lot of turns and short stretches of a straitaway . And therefore you play the game like this, you start in the straightaway the engine is high powered so it goes vroom! while in one gear. Then it goes Vroom! when switching to another gear. What I just described lasts about 3 seconds of in game time...
Because right then you gotta go into a turn. So then, at that time the thing to do is use the high powered brakes on that car.
Which are designed to go from a high speed to a slow speed.
Then, after that you get the oppurtunity to go into another short straightaway which lasts about 3 seconds. ONce again your engine goes vroom! when switching to a higher gear. (and it is loud by the way)
And then, about half a second after you switched to a higher gear like I said above... then you gotta put on the brakes once again for another turn.
So, it's like Vroom! Screech! vroom! Screech the brakes. Seems counter productive.
It seems like it'd be better if not every turn makes you have to put on the brakes. Maybe it could have some nuance in the driving like, some turns you just have to let off the gas and that's all you need to do.
Because then, at least the rpm in your car would stay above being low... in other words if you have to brake so often the cars rpm would get low... then as soon as you put on the gas your car goes Vroom!
What I'm saying with these types of games is this: it's a scenario where you have to accelerate really fast while seeing a sharp turn right in front of you. So it's like yea I can accelerate for like half a second but I already see in half a second I'm gonna have to slam on the brakes.
What we have now are counter-productive driving games.
