My head says yes, my heart says no.
I think I'll just stick to my special expanded hyper ultra super duper edition blu.

Isnโt the re-release the first time the movie will be available in 4K?

I'm good... It was a chore to get through it the first time.

Straw poll - zero ppl I've mentioned this to are interested at all whatsoever.
The sequel will likely do fine, it could've done even better 5yrs ago.

IMO its a no brainer and a pretty smart move on Cameron & Disney to re release it before The Way of the Water is released in December.
Avatar came out in December of 2009 (which is a really really long time ago for a lot of generation Tik Tok or generation Z who were probably having their parents take them to see High School Musical at the time and weren't old enough to see it in IMAX 3D) Its a chance for a lot of the young wiper snappers around the globe to be able to experience it how James Cameron intended it to be seen. And gets the original film back in the spotlight and fresh in movie goers minds.
(man, you would think I am on Cameron's pay list with the way I've been going out of my way to defend him as of late haha)

I guess he knows what the people want.
TEXT:
James Cameron told The New York Times this weekend that his first trip to Pandora was not entirely edenic. Specifically, the director detailed his fight with Fox brass over two key elements of 2009โs Avatar. โThe studio felt that the film should be shorter and that there was too much flying around on the ikran โ what the humans call the banshees,โ he said. Cameron, of course, stuck to his guns. โI just drew a line in the sand and said, โYou know what? I made Titanic. This building that weโre meeting in right now, this new half-billion-dollar complex on your lot? Titanic paid for that, so I get to do this.โ

Avatar should collect between $7 million and $10 million this weekend.
Better than both Jaws and ET
