Not anymore. I 'liked' this post.. then I thought "does this mean I like that your friend died?" It is so complicated. SIGH sorry for your loss. I know two murderers that are in prison, but they didn't use guns.

Alas, yes. It was in an attempted robbery, carried out by two teens. The shot didn't kill her, but did paralyze her.
I didn't know her well. She was a friend of some other friends, and I was in occasional gatherings with her. The shooting took place in the 70's, and she passed away (from illness) a few years ago.
She was a talented singer, and was with the Opera Chorus at the time. She went on to a career as well recognized cabaret singer. But, that fate was so cruel.

Yes. Deliberately. By her husband. She forgave him. When he died a few years later, she called me, weeping, and I had to bite my tongue to keep myself from saying, "Good riddance." She died a few months after he did, from a "broken heart."
One of the main reasons I never got married.

I knew a man who shot himself accidently with a .357 Magnum. Spinning it around on his finger, it rolled off and hit the ground on the hammer (which was cocked at the time). The bullet hit him in the knee, travelled up along his femur and blasted through his buttock. He lost the leg and it pretty much ruined his life.
A former brother-in-law of mine was hit by a ricocheting bullet while shooting targets. He didn't even feel it. He only found out moments later when he discovered he had trouble walking. It left a furrow-like scar in his leg below the knee, but he was okay. This happened before he met my half-sister.
One of my neighbours attempted suicide a few years back. The bullet went clean through the back of his throat. He survived with no lasting effects and is still alive today.
And I knew a woman who shot her husband in the leg during a fight, and not in a self-defence manner either. She got her gun licence banned and a good behaviour bond as a result. I was friends with her for a while, until she moved away. I think she's still married to the man she shot, too...

Does suicide count? A friend from high school shot himself a couple of years ago I had lost contact with him and only found out through Facebook.

I have a "I know someone indirectly/kind of" story. I used to know a Pharmaceutical Buyer for a major drug chain. He had once worked as the junior pharmacist at a drug store.
One day some young hoodlums came into the store and demanded drugs. The senior pharmacist fought them off, hitting one of them over the head with a bottle of cough syrup, and they ran away.
A few days later they returned to store, and without saying anything - immediately shot the senior pharmacist in the leg. They then pointed the gun at his head and said, "You're going to give us what we want or we're going to kill you!"
My friend ended his story by saying, "And that's why I now work in the corporate headquarters!"
