Bill Belichick Ruined 2 Quarterbacks in 1 Night Hyperbolic headline aside, this game was a mess. The article makes some heavy assumptions, though. "Jones' confidence is crushed." I guess we'll see. "[Belichick] may have lost the locker room." I don't think guys sticking up for teammates or deferring questions about coaching decisions to the coaching staff is losing the locker room, but Monday night was a bad look all around. If anything, at the very least, it suggests Belichick either didn't have everyone on the same page, or he completely abandoned his game plan shortly into the game. As a fan I can say I wanted them to start Zappe. I have no idea if it would've turned out any differently, but at least it would've looked like you knew what you wanted to do. Keeping it a secret until game time, throwing Mac out there and yanking him early was the worst possible thing he could've done. Whoever started needed to at least play the first half. Instead, BB turned it into a circus for the fans, a distraction for the team and an elimination pop quiz for his QBs. It was perhaps unfair but not entirely surprising that the fans would react the way they did. They're still all in 100% on this team, they desperately need something to cheer for in another season on the brink. If Zappe starts and stinks up the joint, hey it's a comedown game and Jones gets to look like the savior. If Zappe plays well and wins, you have every excuse to keep him out there even when Mac gets healthy. Starting Mac when you clearly didn't believe in him gave the crowd the opportunity to turn on him in favor of someone who had been playing well up to that point. The situation playing out the way it did made everyone (including the fans) look bad. Who knows what the actual game plan was. BB also told the sideline reporter that we'd see both QBs in the second half, and we never did. Who was he fooling with that statement? Why make it at all? Just do your usual grump routine and give no answers. You all know my history on this topic, so let me make it clear that I'm not posting this to rub BB's face in it, demand he gets fired, etc. This is simply a critical examination of How Not To Deal With QB Controversies 101.

Belichick "lost the locker room" when he cut Milloy in 2003, didn't he?

Mac Jones will start this week. Now give the guy at least, I don't know, two full quarters to get reacclimated to the new offense you just installed before yanking him.

Giants trade Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs.
Probably their most explosive, exciting player last season gets dealt and makes a superpower even stronger.

This also presumably takes KC out of the running for Cooks and Claypool with Green Bay and LAR sniffing around for WR help.

A lot of awesome players on that list. I dont remember a few of them on the later teams at all. For example Andre Johnson, I dont recall him anywhere other than Houston. I for some reason had it in my head that Revis spent like 3 years in New England.

I don't remember him on the Chargers (and I live in San Diego), let alone the four teams that came after that.

Brad William Henke, NFL defensive lineman and actor, dies at 56
That Orange is the New Black role is probably his best known, though I remember him as Coover in Justified and for his short stint in Dexter's first season.
