Best Picture actually seems like an interesting race.
Otherwise, the individual awards seem to have credible favorites set. Best Director would seem to be Spielberg. Banchees, my choice for best of 2022, likely will fare well with performances & writing.
Fraser in The Whale had autumn buzz, yet are enough ppl seeing that film? Colin Farrell was great in Banchees.
Barry Keoghan from Banchees with the clearcut performance of the year for me should be Supporting nominated or else.
Top Gun will get its technical gifts, ahead of Avatar & Wakanda Forever.
Jimmy Kimmell hosting... 2023 Oscars should be good tv.

after seeing Fabelmans, i don't think its a front runner to win anything. Everything Everywhere All at Once may be too weird to win and is overrated. With no clear frontrunner it would be funny if something like Avatar 2 or Top Gun 2 won, but with 5 more Avatars on the way Hollywood may wait to award the big prize.

i would think Aftersun would have a better shot at a nom than a Netlfix movie , Academy has a bias

I can't see The Way of Water winning much of anything... Avatar will likely already be seen as one giant cinematic passion project, & voters waiting until film #5 if it's good to hand out much hardware.

AVATAR (2009) won everything everywhere all at once, so I see no reason A:WoW can't do the same.

Wow, I just realized his last two films won both Best Picture and Best Director.
Again, I see no reason that streak can't continue.
