Kangaroo Jack was one of the stupidest movies ever made. The amount of confronting themes and low-level violence (for a film marketed for kids) is unbelievable. Sinbad's Houseguest is similar, but handled better, with goofy and inept villains to counter the dark stuff that's happening whereas the bad guys in Kangaroo Jack feel more along the lines of the cartel gang in Crocodile Dundee 2. There's also the implication that the two friends like to jack each other off. The titular kangaroo was utterly useless, only talking during some stupid and cringey fever dream and at the very end. Seriously, the film would've been better without him at all. And Alice Springs looks nothing like this:  |

But then it got chipped down to a PG. It was actually supposed to be a Mafia movie, with a much higher rating than PG-13, but a scene involving a kangaroo got positive responses, so just based solely on that they changed the entire film to be more family-friendly, whilst leaving many of the elements from the original film idea in. That's like making Silence of the Lambs and suddenly deciding to make as much of it into a wacky teen comedy as possible.
