I’m conflicted about whether I should go. I never actually got to see the original in 3D, since the 3D tickets were sold out. It’s also been a long time since I’ve seen the original, so I’m thinking maybe I should take another look to see how well the effects hold up.

I remember seeing the original in 3D. It was fine. It didn't blow me away or anything like that, but it certainly wasn't bad. I've never been that crazy about 3D though. But I do know the movie got remastered in 4K and back in 3D again.

Twice and in Imax. The re-master was very imprssive. The post credit scene, jaw dropping.

I saw it on opening day in IMAX 3D since I never did see the film in theaters during its original run. The 3D presentation was fine, but I became completely enthralled with Pandora and the film's worldbuilding. It was like watching the film for the first time.

When it first came out I saw it in what they call "LIEmax". I also don't really see well out of my right eye and was forced to sit on the complete left side of the row near the front which probably didn't do the 3D a lot of favors.
It was playing in real imax where I saw Pearl so I decided to sneak in during the second half. Sure, it looks nice, but all the eye popping visuals in the world don't make up for flat story and characters. I was bored out of my skull, even just skipping to the action.

I did. Totally worth it. Say what you will about the story, it is visually spectacular and it deserves to be seen on an IMAX screen.
