Among his quirks about apparel, this film performer preferred wearing Cartier ladies' wristwatches, with thin bands and small dials, rather than the larger styles designed for men. He can be seen wearing these in several of his movies. Who was this?

Cary Grant loved the Cartier Tank watch. Was that a ladies watch?

Cary Grant loved the Cartier Tank watch. Was that a ladies watch? They did make ladies' versions of the Tank, but generally they tended to be large and squarish. The ones this actor wore were smaller.

I've seen photos of him in little bikini bottoms, but not little watches.

Victor McLaglen loved his petite Panthere De Cartier and especially delighted in flaunting it on set in front of John Wayne for years, who was seethingly jealous of it. The famous climactic fight scene in "The Quiet Man" was, according to director John Ford, all due to Ford's purloining the watch from McLaglen's dressing room while he was in the shower, and then telling him that Wayne had swiped it for himself. "I knew that would make Victor blow a gasket", said Ford, "and we'd film a helluva melee. Thank God for that trinket."

Astaire wore a Cartier Tank--not as wide, but still the rectangular men's version.

Astaire wore a Cartier Tank--not as wide, but still the rectangular men's version. A lady's watch might have made Astaire's hands seem bigger. And that's the last thing he would have wanted, as he felt his hands were too big already.

Ernest Borgnine. He first wore one in FROM HERE TO ETERNITY to make Fatso's hands look more menacing, The ladywatches he later sported in BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK, THE DIRTY DOZEN and THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE added much to his natural gravitas, He steadfastly refused all offers to endorse them, preferring instead to become the first male "Blackglamma" model.

Can't find too many images of Price's watches--maybe a lot of his characters didn't wear one.
