"Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you..." Mrs. Robinson Fun story about that, DiMaggio was annoyed by those lyrics. He hadn't gone anywhere, as far as he was concerned.

He hadn't gone anywhere, as far as he was concerned. Great melody but the lyrics made no sense. "Mother and Child Reunion" - sweet, sentimental title - was inspired by Paul Simon's seeing a chicken and egg item on a Chinese menu.

Also, Paul Simon knew Mickey Mantle a bit and Mickey asked him why he used DiMaggio's name instead of his, and Paul Simon said, 'It's all about syllables.'

Well, this little ditty from 1930 comes to mind:
Who is it that all Australia raves about? Who has won our very highest praise? Now it isn't Amy Johnson or little Mickey Mouse No! It's just a country lad who's bringing down the house. And he's Our Don Bradman And I ask you is he any good? Our Don Bradman When he goes in to bat He knocks every record flat For there isn't anything he can not do Our Don Bradman Every Aussie dips his lid to you.

And Aussie Rules footballer Roy Cazaly "Up there Cazaly In there and fight! Out there and at em Show em your might Up there Cazaly Don't let them in Fly like an angel You're out there to win!"
Fun fact: Aussie soldiers would use the phrase Up There Cazaly as a rallying cry in the trenches during WW2.

Basketball is my favorite sport I like the way they dribble up and down the court Just like I'm the king on the microphone, so is Dr. J and Moses Malone
Tell me, were you in the joint The night Wilt scored 100 points? Or when Celtics won titles back-to-back And didn't give nobody no kind of slack? Or when Dr. J shook the whole damn team With moves that came right out of a dream? Or when Willis Reed stood so tall Playing D with desire? It's basketball!
