Nice to see the Red Sox bending over and spreading their collective cheeks for the Jays. This season can't end soon enough for me. This rotation would struggle at low A ball.

I kind of wish there had been a lockout this year.

Ohtani re-ups for 1 year, $30M with Angels How long can the Angels go with being a two man team? They haven't made the playoff since 2014, haven't won a playoff game since 2009. They can't compete in the division with Houston and now Seattle is relevant again. And they get to watch the Dodgers win 700 games a season. In reality, they should be in rebuild mode. They cannot compete with the division rivals now and the farm system is not strong.

Fucking hell Mets, what are you doing at the plate? All season long, you’ve worked great ABs, worked pitchers relentlessly and put the ball in play. Now you’re swinging for the fences and look totally lost.
Great two games by the Braves, but I wish the Mets offense would show up and make these games competitive because right now, they aren’t.

Is baseball the worst sport to play out the string? I saw some Twins-Tigers highlights, and it made me sad.

Is baseball the worst sport to play out the string? I saw some Twins-Tigers highlights, and it made me sad. An absolute meaningless game like this one has to be a chore. A team that was out of playoff contention in July can still getup for a game against a contender (unless you are the Boston Red Sox) just to piss on someone's barbeque. But two eliminated teams playing each other, yawn. I'm sure players have individual goals, "If I can get x amount of hits in the last six game, I can get my average up to .xxx.". but there had to be a voice saying "It would make things go a lot quicker to strike out on three straight."
I was watching the A's-Mariners game a few days ago and it looked like there was 47 people in the stands. That must be fun. One of the things MLB has to do in the offseason is fix this mess in Oakland. Set a deadline "If ground isn't broken on a new stadium by a certain date, then it's Viva Las Vegas for the Athletics" or something to that effect. Enough is enough

Huge game for the Mets tonight. I would say Chris Bassitt has been the most consistent starter for the Mets this season, and no injury.

Huge game for the Mets tonight. I would say Chris Bassitt has been the most consistent starter for the Mets this season, and no injury. I hate to be over-dramatic, but the Mets need to treat this like a Game 7. If they lose tonight, the Braves' magic number drops to 1, and they'll win the pivotal tie-breaker by taking the season series. If the Mets win tonight, then they'll own the tie-breaker heading into a home set against the Nationals. Losing tonight basically seals their fate in having them host the Padres (in all likelihood) in a best-of-3 set at Citi Field next week. A win tonight at least puts them in control of their own destiny, but the winner of that series faces the Dodgers. The other day, I felt pretty good about their chances, but their offense has looked SO BAD of late, the past 2 days in particular. They have to get back to what has worked for them all season long, and man do they miss Starling Marte. His absence looms so large over this series.

If the Mets lose tonight, it would just the same old Mets tune. Game 1, why would they have a debuting rookie hit in that big spot in the 9th inning? Are there no other more experienced hitters with Jansen struggling? I had a bad feeling when he came up to bat with the bases loaded.
